can you not just buy an old motorola dial phone and put up prepaid cell time on it?
Not without changing my phone number, which was how I got stuck w/this shitty phone I hate in the first place...:bigjoint:

I reside 1,400 miles from where the number originates.

I have a Motorola L7 that's pretty simple and an iPhone. I swap my sim card between phones. You just need a sim card adapter. They are usually just a few bucks on Amazon or eBay.

try getting a tracphone or prepaid, they seem to be low tech. been using those for years, and i agree about the disliking of having a miniature computer in your pocket that can track and trace you wherever you go.
So you're saying they are conspiring against you?

I hate touch screen phones, which 95% are now. May I please just have a phone I can dial without having to unlock, press dial pad, then dial etc?.

And, most of the features included on these damn phones I never use/need...and it takes me 2 weeks just to learn how to use the features.

Technology is wasting my time, when I was always under the impression it was created to do the opposite.

Peace
...walkie talkies are still rock 'n roll to me :)

sunbiz, you can just have your service switched to a phone that is easier to use for you. If there is no sim just grab a used or prepaid version of the carrier you use then call and have them switch the IMEI or Hex #. It's the unique ID found under the battery. If it has a sim you can simply swap the sim to a phone that is easier to use as long as it's the same carrier or an unlocked phone.

Those are the phones I like, the construction grade. I'm working on a switch back as I type.

Smart phones gave me wings! I can restart a server anywhere! YES! Before that I was tied to a console. But yeah the kids today are scary. I'm looking forward to them getting their HUD's installed so they can actually look up and stop walking into things.

As an aside what has me really concerned is the coming toaster rebellion, but I digress.
On the principle that to the man with only a hammer, everything is a nail ... we're toast. cn

Remove your battery for true off the grid movement.
U serious?...damn. Good thing I've been leaving it in the car, from now on it stays home.

Of course, it does help when it's registered and billed in someone else's name/address to begin with...which mine is.:bigjoint:

I just reimburse bill payment.

Lol's, you're almost my parents age...yet all I want is a simple phone that if I happen to drop in the Gulf of Mexico still functions.

"the main reason phones became damaged in the first place was falling out of user hands (at 30 percent of issues), followed by liquid damage at 18 percent."

I hate our iphones.
Made of glass so they break easy.
Contrary to popular belief the camera really sucks.

Oh and I would like to have my old phone back because I could
actually make calls in remote areas.

Too many reasons to hate the tech.

I think it's time the tech industry fesses up. New technology doesn't really save us any time, consumers are simply infatuated with new shit.

And they are led blindly into a techno hole that they don't understand
the capabilities of.
