One gallon pots enough for SOG?

Sorry if this has been answered, but I couldn't find it with a couple of searches. I am growing a 4'X4' SOG grow, I would like to fit at least 35+ plants. I have to keep them somewhat short (no more than 3 feet) Would One gallon pots be enough for a decent yield, or would I be better off going with two gallons? I am growing in soil.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this is my first SOG grow.

I've never done a grow like that, but I would definitely use at least 3 to 3.5 gallon pots.

1 gallon are fine.......I have some girls goin right now in 1 gal, growing great, there bout 2 feet and bushy, smaller pots mean you have water more often though

How far are you into your grow? When you start to flower they are going to grow at least another foot or more. I don't think one gallon pots would be good.

Why? Because of the way they grow along the nets? I mean, when they start to flower they are going to get bigger and in turn, the roots will need more room to expand. Please explain...

working for me .......... 38 plants under two 600 watt HPS. 1 gallon pots. clones flowered at 6 inches tall.

i'm at 24 days of 12/12.

So is the whole reason to do a SOG is to use smaller pots?

this from my last grow i eventually did move these into 3 gal pots but it wasn't sog, I had 7 females in a 5x5 area, I think thse pots arn't even a gallon maybe half. but it should give you an idea

sea of green. you want all short even buds all the way across the top of your canopy. as close together as possible. by flowering when the are short they don't get side branching so you can squeeze them closer together. the idea is to yield single 1 ounce colas. 1 per pot.

i've always vegged at least 2 weeks then lollipopped. this time i went straight to flower once the cuttings rooted and were potted. i will do this from now on. i will let them get 6 inches. if they need a few days veg that is fine but i think 6 inches is the # to flower at. with the strains i'm working with anyways.

SUP GRNMAN ....I get the feeling you thinkin of SCROG ...why would a Sog use a net ?

i always use 1 gallon pots, and i get 2-3 ounces per plants, i don't SOG but I perpetually harvest every 3-4 weeks, It's like a sog but my plants are bigger, but the 1 gallon does me fine, ihave to water every night and feed with almost every watering but I enjoy that.....but I would think 1 gallon would definitely be big enough for a sog........and you should be able to get great yields per plant.....small pots are way under rated.....big pots get all the glory but in reality they are no better, and they cost a lot more to fill with soil then smaller pots...using 1 gallon instead of 2 gallon means you will use half the soil....this means you save $$$$$....which brings down the cost of production...you always what to do that in all aspects of the grow.....

Now thats exactly what im talking about,little pots all the way,i'd also like to add something,with little pots & daily watering/feeding you get the bonus of fresh oxygen to the roots on a daily basis,this is a huge improvement & one thats not possible with large pots.

i totally agree...my roots get to breathe daily...they dry out between each watering..which is every day...and they love it.......
