how do you outdoor cali growers...

how do you outdoor cali growers grow a crop without it getting mold or mildew, besides planting a mold resistant variety? I know there is a lot of outdoor growing in cali. and my state has the same average summer humidity of cali so I would like to see what you experienced outdoor growers have to say about growing outdoors without your plants contracting mold? Thanks!!!

We hope for the best, grow at higher elevations than the fog line, cover plants, etc. But still there is mold sometimes. Get rain in late September and it really does damage.

Also if you can spread your branches out to get airflow that will help. I like to cut off fan leaves a week or so before harvest to create even more airflow. Growing the right strains is very important. Low leaf to calyx ratios.

And above all else, we hope for sun. lol

thanks for the info dan kone. Very informative and straight to the point. but....oh crap. I think its gonna be hard if I try. I live where theres a "high water table" but hmmm actually...maybe...I think I have an idea for the perfect spot...except nahh not perfect. I was thinking thr sand dunes near my home but the dirtbikers and atv'ers are Always riding thru there. I know of another spot ....but I think its dense woods and I haven't been thru there yet. I just saw it on google maps and judgeing by its neighboring land that I have been its kinda dense woodland....hmm idkk...

excellent ventilation and air circulation did the trick for me last year up here in portland oregon. not a spot of mold, although we did have a hell of a summer.

I don't feel sorry for him, but I do wish people would handle these situations in a better way.

I live in a semi-arid desert area of Los Angeles. Not a lot of humidity here. Never had a problem in 40 years of growing.

Are you an outdoor grower also? I am contemplating an outdoor grow in Antelope Valley but I cannot see how the girls can possibly thrive outdoors given the combination of both high temperatures and low humidity (based on this chart -- seems very unlikely that VPD will be ideal outdoors).
