When to cut? First grow. 56 Days since 12/12 switch.

Hey, thanks for the input.

I haven't cut them down yet, most likely within 1-2 more days i will be though.
I will check.. kinda uncertain what it looks like but to me it doesn't look like rot.

Edit: What you're probably seeing is the sugar leaves "dead" curled up that i haven't pulled off yet, this was my first grow so they aren't exactly green by the end of the grow which i guess was my fault?
 
yeh but just do ya self a favour and open that top bud up and have a look in side for rot and mould just to be sure :) dead sugar leaves near enougth always leads to rot well that has been my experiance with rot on more than 1 occasion.
 
sorry basically it will be all brown n rotty lol and kinda look like spider webs but have a gd look m8 to be on the safe side :)

So i ended up cutting them down tonight. 85-90% of the of the pistils had receded and changed colour, spotted a few amber trichs, and calyxes have swollen to full amount etc.
Got them all hanging at moment and am quite happy with my very first grow!
How long do i dry for roughly? going to try keep temperature at 18-20 degrees with a fan going also.
 
Trimmed plants semi good.. Might need a touch up after dried.
Looks like a decent yield to me.. pretty happy!
Edit: Do i cut the "popcorn" buds off the bottom and put them into my trim bag?

Last post. Dont try to learn here. Prob your best picking samples. Let them dry fully. And smoke em. You will see what yoy like.
 
looks good, I hang fpr a few days (depending on humidity, wait until the stems are about to snap but just bend and the bud feels a bit "crispy) then put in a paper bags for a few days until the RH in the bags get down to the mid to upper 60s. Then into jars for a week with the Boveda 62% packs checking on them every day and rotating the bods in the jars. I do not do an extended burp with the packs, but you can if you find the packs cannot keep up.

If you do not use the boveds packs you can just burp the jars every 6-12 hours for an hour or two depending on how the RH is in the jars (use a hygrometer). There is a good guide in the harvesting and curing section:

The popcorn bud is great for extracts if you have enough, if you have less than half an ounce it may not be worth spending to much time, others may disagree. You can always save for later by drying or freezing depending on how you want to use it.

I will weigh it when its dry and tell you all the weight, i'll be happy with anything tbh, i wasn't expecting much from my first grow!

I'll just cut the pop corn buds off after its dry, i'm also drying the trim/sugar leaves in the same room.. prob only have about 10 grams of it idk, we'll see.
 
24 Grams of the Northern Lights x Big Bud.
Curing in jars at the moment.
Kerala x Skunk #1 is almost dry enough to jar and will be about 30gram i think.
The NLxBB has gotten "airy and quite dry" this morning when i jarred it, not sure if thats part of the drying/curing or a strain thing. They aren't very dense at all.

Sounds like you harvested too early although it could be multiple reasons.

Yeah, more than likely.
I needed to harvest when i did though as I'm shifting out next week so needed to get it cleaned up, I'll have a smoke of it tonight and see how it is.
Obviously needs more curing but it'll give me an idea.
First grow so wasn't expecting much and it was more for the experience than quality/yield etc.

Subcool likes Sativa which is what you want to grow to get HIGH. Not harvesting Indica's early like you do.
I've dried/cured buds from the same clone @ different weeks to send for testing. Guess what had the highest THC?
The buds with the least amber/clear have more potency from my EXPERIENCE. Not what I read/heard from Subcool.

I grow TGA already + not a fanboy or a hater.
I do love his genetics >but I'll just agree to disagree.

You'll gain experience/knowledge after each harvest> so no worries.
 
1. Fully formed but still clear will provide a cleaner ‘up’ high with less sedative effect; this is the best window for heavy Indicas.

2. Fully formed and turning slightly cloudy or milky; this is probably the best time to pick most hybrids available today.

3. Fully formed completely cloudy or milky with at least thirty percent of the heads turning amber; this is usually best window for the late maturing Sativa’s such as Haze. This is also a good window when using the plant primarily for Hash production.

The mistake to try and avoid is harvesting before the trichomes are fully formed, so as mentioned in the guideline; most growers whom use this method, harvest at the point in which the majority of the heads are cloudy. Harvesting before this window will produce bud that is less potent, containing less essential oils and trepans, causing your finished stash to take on a grassy or green taste, even if it is dried and cured correctly.

Fully formed being the keyword he used> if the Calyx aren't swollen then they haven't fully formed yet.

I would never bash subcool> but I don't have to take his every word as fact.
We can all do our own experiments + conclusions which I've already made for myself.

Need some advice on soil/nutes etc, i want this next grow to be a shit load better now that i have a grows experience behind me.
Also i will probably only grow 2-4 plants at a time, which ones should i grow together first and what method? SCRoG Etc?
