The plant has been around since the year dot but you will never read in any historical documents anywhere about any social problems it created etc , because it didn't create any yet governments and anti's the world over denounce it as evil and turning young people into morons which by the way they need no help with, I should know I was young once
I think I read somewhere that Thomas Jefferson used to like to sit in his veranda and have a smoke, I think he grew hemp as well, my American history is elementary at best so I am open to correction.
Oh yeah, never created problems for society until 'Murica and her politicians (and the 20th century) came along.
And yeah man, all KINDS of prominent people back in the day smoked. There are all kinds of documents from history that are just kind of tucked away about how our forefathers felt about weed. And actually, there is also writing that says that if the government ever takes our god given rights away, that we are to rise up and form a militia to protect our freedom like they did. I mean seriously, almost all of the Founding Fathers grew hemp as well as cannabis, and smoked--if only occasionally, but smoked none the less. Thomas Jefferson had acres of hemp growing on his land at the Monticello in Virginia, and some say it was either his or good ol' Washington's hemp that was used to write the declaration of independence, AS WELL AS THE FINAL DRAFT OF THE CONSTITUTION that sits on display today. Why do you think its still in such good shape? Because the hemp fiber is one of the strongest natural fibers (I think maybe THE strongest plant fiber) known to man.
I mean seriously, the fact that we can throw someone in a cement box and keep them from providing for their wife and kids over (literally) the substance that makes up the ideals that this country was founded upon, blows my mind to tiny little fucking pieces. Time can be serious around here, even a half ounce can get you sent down the road (prison) under many circumstances like being on probation or being a repeat offender.
If you could go back and look George Washington in the eye and tell him what his country would look like-- or better yet, if you could bring him here to the future and show him how populated our prisons are, and how many fathers and mothers have their sons and daughters taken from them, and all over a plant that "gets you high", and at the same time making billions of dollars off of taxes from sales of alcohol and tobacco--
I mean seriously, I think he would walk quietly to his house, and put his hands in his face and sob. Its just as stupid as how we used to throw people in jail for religion, sex, whatever.
I think one day people will look at this era like we look at the romans for cutting hands off for stolen bread. We are supposed to have "fair trials", and "rights and liberties" but it has all been slowly, systematically taken from us as we have become more and more numb, generation after generation. We've been desensitized to the fact that our government has turned into exactly what we escaped from. (Sorry, England)
But I mean seriously, we were suppose to have started this country to create a place where people know they will live a safe life and don't have to worry about being taken from their families over something that god gave us the right to do. And I, personally am very passionate about trying to turn our country back into what it was originally intended to be.
