I just started this thread because I want people to not give up hope. I know this is going to sound corny as hell but, I have met the love of my life. I have been in out and out of many relationships in my 39 years and never once was in love. I guess the problem was the fact that my love was not born until I was 19! When we first met, her beauty is so amazing I could not say anything for the first 10 minutes. The only thing I could do was laugh, smile, and be in awe. I knew the moment I saw her that I wanted to be with her the rest of my life. After our first meeting however, I did not think we would ever see each other again. As luck would have it, we met up again and have not been apart since. I have never been happier, every moment I see her, my heart is filled with a joy and warmth that I cannot explain. She is very smart, funny, kind, caring, and I can actually say that she is my best friend. So listen, there is someone for everyone and you should never give up on love! There is enough hatred and bad shit in the world already. I never figured the love of my life would be so gorgeous and awesome. One last thing, she is pre-op transgender and because of stupid laws in my state, we cannot get married. So, the next time you think about voting, please vote for gay marriage. Although I have said mean things to people on here, in the end, we really do need more love!

i think anyone who wants to be tied down to archaic traditions should, gay, straight or whatever but i recommend you take wedding money and buy 2 tickets around the world, let adventure shared be you wedding.
 
I totally agree with you and the reason we want to is for the rights under law of a spouse. I think marriage is bullshit as the fact that single people are penalized for being single and that really pisses me off to no end.
 
what extra rights do you get, can a will not take care of most things?

i am interested as i am in uk and we call them common law partners
 
A lot of companies do not offer benefits to same sex partners. Even if you have a will, the family (in a lot of states) of either can contest the will. Thankfully my family is awesome! Unfortunately a lot of people have messed up families who try to screw over the surviving partner. Marriage would fix a ton of issues.
 
the bit about companies is messed up, surely should be illegal

and i know all about messed up families, my partner's family are evil and if money is involved there is nothing they wont do ,

i vote for wedding then
 
Oh I know, I was only kidding :D Seeing as how anti gay they are there, I've got no problem with them. It's your guys choice so more power to ya.

Secondly, i am compelled to observe that in its second decade, my not-very-lamented marriage became a "same-sex" one before finally decaying into a "what-sex?" one. cn
