Sunni I don't remember if you told him to chip the cat? But in case you didn't, perf chip the cat LOL!
no i told him in PM that he needs to go get the kitty dewormed, shots up to date what food to get and to neuter him because males who spray will do so even after they are neutered

i dont think chipping a cat is a good idea, but a collar with a tag would be

I've seen a number of cats strangled from collars so if you do put on a collar we always used elastic ones the cats could 'slide' out of so once they lost their collar. Why wouldn't you recommend chipping?

The accidental strangulation rate has to be pretty low. I'd say the benefits of a good collar far outweigh the risks. If they can slip out of it, what's the point?

I lost my first cat Kitty O'Village (my parents let me name him sorry), to a collar. Then in short order two neighbors lost their cats with collars. The entire neighborhood thought I was killin' cats (I was like 7/8)!! Then some adult found a cat hanging on the wood fence. I chip all my pets now. So if I had a cat I'd chip it. I chipped my parrots and my dog. My hub will chip me the day they embed GPS in them LOL.

NB -- Yes I'm aware everything I posted is anecdotal and does not give rates of strangulation. Only my opinion take it for what it's worth LOL.

Diggin your kitty story, keep us updated.

I always believed that most folks who love animals, take in strays and give them kindness are just building their own special kind of karma.

Not only do you gain a new friend that gives you love and companionship, you make better and change the life of a helpless creature that deserves it.

Thanks for being a good human 8)8)8)

have a vet apt scheduled for 2 weeks from now to get him checked and see what meds if any we need to get him right and talk about getting him nuetered. I never heard of the whole chipping thing and I don't think I need to
