Water and Feed

Sup folks.


Get ready for my noobness lol. I've got four cheese in under a 600 dual spectrum, using a 1.2x1.2x2, with a 4' ext. and CF. I've put them (clones) in 15 litre pots of the bat.


What I'd like is info on watering. At this juncture they're 2-3' tall. I've looked around various forums but haven't found any info for starting in bigger pots. I know of people that have done exactly this, just no clue on watering and how often.


A friend told me after I've fed them the bucket of water I have standing, start and give them a quarter cap of AnB morning and night, in each of the two cans he recommended giving between the four. FYI the can is approx 1ltr.

-What's the recommended watering program for my plants?
-When do I start with AnB and how much of it?

I would be grateful of a second, third or fourth opinion on them two questions above with the info provided. Then I can maybe find a happy medium somewhere in between.

You should water your plants about every 4-5 days check the soil an inch inch and a half down if dry water you should use nutrients every other week to every 2 weeks

go down to the hardware store and buy urslelf one of those cheap little soil moisture meters, they fairly reliable. Only water if the soil is almost completely dry, cannabis likes to dry out nearly completely between waterings and will handle underwatering much better then overwatering. Some people go by pot weight when dry compared to when wet, or by sticking there finger in a few inches to check the soil, I find these methods unreliable and they need at least a little experience growing to really be able to tell if the soil is completely dry or just sorta dry. I find my moisture meter to be the most reliable method to keep my plants properly hydrated. For nutrients a less is more approach is also needed, start with low doses of nutes and work up to stronger doses, this allows the plant to adjust to the nutes as well as letting you see how they respond

Whoa, every 4-5 days! Some guy told me half a litre(ish) per day.
I had to do a little research on why the leaves have gone a little dark green, on the end of a couple of leaves on one plant. I've concluded overwatered.
When watering, only the edge (about 1 1/2 inch is actually been dry. I'll leave them for a few days now then.

So my question now is it 12/12 stage they get water daily?

Oh, I use a bucket in the room to fill up my water can. Shall I add nutes to that or the can?

At what stage do I start nutes? Now?

After entering 12/12 you will definitely only water once a week if dry like I said inch inch and a half down that's when they like less water and a very nice in phosphorus fert like a very like 5-15-15 is good for flowering once every other week or two weeks and stop fert two weeks before harvest

pick your pots up.
when they get light, water them.

I pick my pots up everyday. I keep track in my head how much water each plants using.
If I have a plant that goes to long with out using water I know I have a issue with that plant.
You can fix little problems before they become Big problems

OK so you will know if you have over watered by how much water you put in I have 15 plants in 6"pots like to keep em small I use a gallon jug milk jug to be exact rinsed very very very good milk not good for pot lol OK so to much or to little water will make your leaves droop I put enough water in my plants to see a little come through drain holes that way I know it got all the way through to the roots as for nutrients do not add to all your water have to separate jugs and only try and mix enough nutrients on feed days to not have enough left over in your jug or mold will grow

water your plants when they need water not on a schedule you read on the internet.

I measure nutrients by the gallon as in "5mL/gal cal-mag 5mL/gal grow formula" etc. I use a syringe (no point) to draw and measure. They have larger volumes available for large animals like horses. Grow shops should carry something that is labeled for measuring. The bottle should have some general guidelines for amounts as well.

This is, of course, if the plants even need feeding at all. I wouldn't just go pouring things into the pot because someone told you so. Learn why you use them and how to use them correctly. It will make you a more capable grower.

Plant them in small containers until you can see roots poking from the holes on the bottom. Then transplant up a size. Continue until flowering. Too much medium leads to problems as well as wastes water, nutrients and time.

Seems like youve got a little invested in decent equipment. Invest some time in learning about plant biology and you might get a nice return.

MYOB, that's good advise there. Don't go putting something in the pot because I was told to. However, when you are at my level of knowledge in this game, I have to listen to methods and tricks to an extent, until I pick up my own anyway.

Oh yeah, the guy I got the cuts of had cut the ends of the leaves from some of them. I forget why he said, was trying to take in so much other info. Why would that be done?

Get yourself a scope. When you see little tiny tumbleweeds blowing around on your soil you know it's time to water. It's the only way to be sure, man.

I personally use the lift method. I mixed the medium, I planted the seeds & watered them. I know when it's time to water by their weight. As for how much, I water until I it comes out the drain holes. I empty the plastic saucer thing after a few minutes so they aren't sitting in water.
I measure the water they get and keep a log of feeding & watering as well as misc notes.

Everyone has their own way of doing things. You've got good suggestions offered, find what works best for you & most of all, your plants. Good Luck!

Ok, these look high res on my phone, hopefully they do for you guys. Any feedback would be apriciated.

Last night I gave them A&B nutes, just a fifth what was recommended. You know to see how they react.

Since day 1 (day 4 now) they have grew more leaves and what I think will be bud sights. In fact the small middle sets of leaves have shot up overnight.

OK bro, these people telling you only water once a week and bs bs bs. Do not listen to that bs!. Either get a soil meter($5 on ebay) or get to know your plant and know when shes dry by the weight of the pot. Water till you see s slight run off. If I waited a week to water my plant she would be badly underwatered. Plants are different bro and you have to factor in which kind of soil you are using and how much light it is getting and so on. I used to get away with only watering every 4-5 day. now that she is budding she does through some water. Best thing you can do is get to know your plants bro. ^^^^ like this guy said, people telling you to only water once a week during flowering are insane. Every single plant ive grown has required water every 2-3 days during flowering regardless of the pot size. Any "fruiting" plant is goign to require alot of water during its flowering stage

You would only cut the ends off a leaf if is has been burned beyond repair, or say with a fan leaf that is blocking a bud site. Cutting a leaf in half in that case allows for more light to penetrate, without really losing a leaf, as the cut leaf will still be functional.

You mean you received clones from someone and the leaves were cut? This is pretty normal when taking clones a lot of people will trim down the leaves to prevent the clone from continuing vegetative growth before its roots are established

trimming the leaf in half makes your cutting use less water. You have half as many Stomata for transpiration.
Low light slows down photosynthesis, slowing down growth of the shoot.

Yeah a friend chopped them before I got them. So that's why they chop them then.


Im going with just water every 2-3 days, until they're bigger. Without the desk fan I'd probably leave it longer but that really dries the soil. As of tonight I'm gonna leave it off until the morning. If they were in their natural habitat, it wouldn't be windy 24/7.


Two of them aren't growing as quick as the other two. I don't think they're dying, it could of just been over watering from the first few days of watering them before it was dry. Everything seems to be good now though. I'ma take some more pics in a couple days, see how much has changed. When you see them every day, you dont see it as much, although it's defo noticeable.
