the south still leads the way with LA, MS, AL, OK, and TX incarcerating at the highest rates, thereby reinforcing my opinion about the south.

It's just because the cops are killing more people now rather than going through the motions of inprisoning them.

Murder/suicides seem to be up too, so yeah, whatever you want to think, Bucky boy.

I'm curious if the system has simply redistributed them. Meaning rather than prison they've just been reassigned to some other control such as parole, probation etc.

Wow
an actual rational thought from you

Why yes a lot of them have been moved to parole and probation. But usually still fall into the stat of being in custody

1.7% all due to financial constraints not moral thinking or Obummer derp derp.

From the article....
There were 27,770 fewer people imprisoned at the end of last year compared to the previous year.

California led the way in prisoner reduction in 2012, with its prison population falling by more than 15,000 due in part to the decision to house "nonserious, nonsex, nonviolent offenders" in local jails, not state prisons.
With counts for three states estimated

From article....
Whites, who make up 78 percent of the U.S. population, accounted for 35 percent of the state prison population. Blacks, who make up 13 percent of the U.S. population, were 38 percent of the state prison population. Hispanics, who make up 17 percent of the U.S. population, were 21 percent of the state prison population.

Where do the majority of blacks live?

so you're bragging that the south leads the way in imprisoning blacks at ridiculously high and lopsided rates?

good job, samantha.

It's them damn white people with their damn judicial court systems! Hahaha honestly I don't understand why you guys bring up race all the time. I mean who cares if more white people get locked up in some states and black people or Hispanics get locked up more in other states? People of all races can be bad people and be convicted of crimes through due process and be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? So who's to blame??

care to name one state where white people are locked up at a higher rate than blacks?

alaska's incarceration rates per 100,000:

white: 500

black: 2163

blacks are over 4x more likely to be incarcerated, despite being 1/10th of the population.

try again.
Hold up a second.

The only way to compare rates of incarceration from a race perspective is to compare the amount of crimes committed by each group compared to the actual rate of incarceration.

I can do statistics, me.

And it would seem from the analysis that black people simply commit more crimes...

Call me racist or whatever, I'm merely looking at statistics.
