haven't been caught(yet), but i do track the outcomes of some brother growers up here in the empire state
small grows don't seem to catch much pain, plea deals with jail unlikely
of course that's if your record isn't too tainted
on the whole, NY isn't the worst, not the best either

Upstate NY's weather is nice....low 70's during the day.
While I don't think the the cops in NYS are actively searching for home-growers, they will be out and about looking for large outdoor grows the next few weeks as plants are nearing harvest. We rarely hear about a pot bust anymore. Several years ago my wife and I got pulled over in NYS and the cop smelled dope (we just burned one) and asked us for our weed. We handed him the 1/4 oz and our bowl....he dumped the weed and gave us our bowl back.

A friend of mine got caught growing in NY...he had a small personal grow, and his ex-friend ratted on him...but he got off with a light sentence of community service and went right back to growing.

3-4 years ago my wife and i were argueing, loud! Neighbors called the cops. They came over. Now there were extention cords running into the closet. A hole cut in the door with my exhaust hanging out. NO ODOR CONTROL. And 2 cops were standing right next to it questioning me (about the argument) for well over 20 minutes! The one cop actually had said, can we go talk in another room? I can barely hear you over all of the fans!
Soooo they left. I tore everything down and got rid of everytging within 2 hours. But, they never came back!

Former cali liver here.... Things I don't miss:
Water that tastes like ass…. And chlorine mixed together…
Neighbors so close next door to you… That your outside plants piss them off because they are former tweakers, and started with pot in HS and their daughter is in HS…
Home Depot with hordes of workers pounding on my truck looking for a job…
Freeways? Fukk… 12 lanes wide, 91 freeway at the 71 junction in corona…backed up the 55 all the way to Newport Beach…
Any afternoon traffic jam…You can’t get anywhere without a traffic jam…
Peeps that shouldn’t be driving, and yet being illegal, without a dri lic no matter…they do…
Grass Fires/forest fires…set by man, because fire in cali is big business, equipment needs to move into fire area and clear it…
Demographics, of where I lived in cali….I was a minority… Demographics now? Hahaha… everyone looks like me… except, fatter older looking…and less tan….

I live in the country… Amish live by… The rivers are full… everything is green…there are fisherman parking lots next to rivers everywhere here… Hunting? Real close… Deer everywhere…Fresh corn is down on the corner…I can drive all day and just enjoy the scenery of a two lane road, and in cali, that’s only done along the coast…
Things are really green in CNY… No really natural green in cali… cali peeps have never scene anything like it, there is no brown anywhere…dirt/desert what’s that?
I have hundreds of birds serenading me every morning…. Look a red one, a yellow one, a humming bird…everything is so alive… in cali… brown is the rule….
I like the clean fresh thunderstorms we have, that washes away the blues…
Seasons… cali, warm, warmer, hot and fog were my seasons… And, I was born and raised in so cali… so speaking from a bit of experience…
I must admit, that jobs starting at 7am, across town [I lived in OC, drove to construction jobs in the SF Valley/Hollywood/etc] I would leave my place at 4:50 am, to get the 45 miles to job… My 1998 Ford full sized truck, with 460 cid in it has 320,000 miles on it… at 10-14 mpg for every mile… I’ve bought 30,000 + gallons of fuel… at $4.00 = $120,000.00 + for my truck to get to work, from 1998-2008.…
I’ve figured, I’ve spent 16,000 hours in that ten years wasting away in a traffic jam, or just driving to work…so, 666 days spent in 10 years behind the wheel of my truck…
Geeze what else could I have done with that time…
Enjoy the weather in S Cali… it’s really the only thing you got going for you….

I've got cops living two doors down... I feel so safe.... They 'jog' by my house, I got a bowl in my hand as I wave.... One more thing... Climate Change, is a good thing in CNY.... Climate change in S Cal... it's so hot-hot-hot.... Seriously, I sat outside yesterday on my 'sun deck' and soaked up some rays... It was nice... Getting the understanding of growing in a wet environment [CNY], that turns dry in winter, is a learned experience...My de-humidifier in my bud room pulls out two gallons of water a day... in a 6' X 4' X 7' tall room... In December/January, I will need to add humidity to my veg room... As long as you don't tell, or sell... and of course no smell.... CNY is great....

as with most states now the housing dwelling of a controlled substance is not as bad as it seems ,,north carolna 1998 ex girlfriend was visiting me and as i am getting a shower, cops come to the door and pulled the your obstructing justice if u don't let us in..so when he come in (living in a 14x70 trailer) he smelled green weed so he went in the front room where there were clones.. as he come down the back hallway i heard the radio and met him in the hallway buttnaked ,any ways they got me with 86 plants in various stages..so after i bailed out and got home to a destroyed house i got everything they didn't find and ran for 6 years and 2 months..they charged me with several felony's 6 to be exact. after running for the 6 years i got pulled over and they extradited me back to nc where i sat in the jail for a total of 56 days and got everything turned to one possession with intent to distribute cocaine because they had no more evidence from the 6 years of running.. so the plea bargin was time served and 1 year of probation.. i even got a bond after being a fugitive of justice for 6years. i could of got right back out after getting extradited from another state.lol fucking dumbasses ,, but i was looking at 16 months per felony. so by me running was the only thing that kept me safe from full prosecution..hope it helps but even one or two plants is a simple possession

You pick the wrong part of Cali. California is a big state, should have went farther north. LOL.
He's right, NY is a beautiful place to live. The Adirondacks are just breathtaking. I do sometimes take it for granted, but every now and again I'll look out and and see those rolling hills as far as the eyes can see, very comforting. Although I've never even had so much as a possession ticket, most of my friends have and they are pretty easy on it. Typical BS, accept a plea bargain for a lesser charge, pay a fine, MAYBE a little community service.
