Does the female calyx always start "pointy" and males start as "ball shape"? Any other indications to sex other than pistils? First timer w/ seeds :/

males tend to grow slightly faster but no there are not any other indications. the flowers are the reproductive organs of the plant so you need to see those to determine its sex.

Yep female ones will be a lil pointy and then a pair of pistils will pop out, male ones will be a ball on a stick and eventually nanners/ pollen sacks. these are called the carpel(s) the calyx is the leaves at the base of buds that have very short petioles (stems) and make a ring below the budsites.
