Flowering with Cree bulbs

I got "electrocuted" by my Cree driver once while I was making my Cree-bulb panel. I had always planned on insulating any bare wires, though, and ever since I did it's been a non issue. I have a feeling once you encase the driver and insulate the wires going to the mcpcb you'd have to almost try to get electrocuted for anything to actually become of it.

Didn't you or Fran or pet have problems removing the glass on a couple of the a19's?

is there any utility rebates on the a19's too or just TW?
Two of my first four came off easily without heat and the other two wouldn't budge, I decided to leave the rest on but I'm really curious how much light the TW's give off with the globe removed.
Pretty sure it's just the TW

can't you just take the globe off and liberally apply high temp silicone to any areas of exposed electrical contacts. I wonder if the new bulb has a lower life expectancy due to them ramping up the old one basically.
The new TW's have a larger heatsink.

Stunning Captain!! You are master grower.
Thank you bio,I don't think the pics really show off how impressive she looks in person for 35 days.

man this thread was awesome. I just bought some of those cree globes at home depot the other day and I assumed with the globe they probably wouldn't be good for growing but boy was I wrong. time to get out the oven mitts

Just moved the lights and couldn't resist taking a pic of the little deathstar, she's very happy in her new home and her leaves are reaching for the lights most of the time now. Wasn't sure she would recover from her abuse, but she's a fighter.
It's begun,I opened the tent on the new critical kush and after two days of 12/12 it looks like she's grown a couple inches since yesterday. She didn't veg as long as her mother and I'm going to try supercropping early to see if I can control some of the stretch. I'll move her ring up and crop her a little later and post a pic.

Added a CK pic, cropped 6 of 8 mains and did a little trimming.

one hell of a grow man..
I really like your training method.. when one branch gets a little too tall do you supercrop it to let others catch up?

also wondering, have you been using your specific wavelength floods? how are those working out? look like decent leds?
thinking of getting one for a friend starting up a little grow... would it be better than some household leds
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10W-20W-30W-50W-Blue-554nm-Red-660nm-Hydroponic-Plant-Flood-LED-Grow-Lights-/251248529710
Yep,I supercrop for canopy control. To early to tell on the ebay flood yet but I'm hopeful,I have the other coming next week. Some of the add on lights I have are for improving quality and may not improve the yield a lot but it may take some time to tell if they do both. With a small grow you can't go wrong using the Cree A19 bulbs, less electricity and heat than CFL and great quality. I think the first light to add to any grow would be the 730 nm. It seems expensive for 10 minutes of light but by being able to go 13.5/10.5 you are adding over 12% more energy from your lights to your plants and your plants think they're getting 12.5 hours of dark vs 10 when your on 12/12 because it takes two hours for your plant to transition to dark without 730 nm. The UV is strictly for quality because it's suppose to increase resin, trichomes and THC production.
I really believe the added 660 nm will add quality and yield but only time will tell for sure, most warm whites fall off after 630 nm.

Captainmorgan: "I have the lights at 13.5/10.5 and the UV at 5 hours with the 730 nm at 10 minutes.". That is very cool use of artificial light to closely mimic nature. Great work! Please clarify something; the UV and the far red time fall within the 13.5 of lights on, correct? Do you put the UV at 'noon'?

The UV is in the middle of the light cycle and the 730 nm is for ten minutes after the lights go off.

Thought I would throw up a couple pics.
The little deathstar is coming along ok for having been in so bad of shape and probably started flower outside 3 weeks before I got her.
The new critical kush is looking good and I've moved the ring up twice so far but she doesn't seem to be stretching as bad yet, I have fewer watts and more blue with this setup tho.

Added 4 blueberry skunks at day 18.

very nice, are they just for supplemental lighting? Or are you going to test them out in other ways to check their power/performance?

I ordered the all 660 originally and they messed up my order and sent the 660+445 so they told me to keep it at no charge then sent me the all 660. I got the 660 for supplementing because warm whites fall off after 630 nm. I'll run another critical kush after this one finishes with the added 660 to see if it shows any improvement.

^^^I personally think that will show the best results.......multi point warm white cree bulbs + 660nm supp=== holy grail!! :P

doing great stuff here captain.......can't wait to see the critical run

Thanks PSUAGRO, I've been running a similar spectrum with induction and T5 HO and getting great results. 360 watts 5000k induction - 108 watts 630 nm T5 HO - 108 watts 660 nm T5 HO It's got a little more blue but that's good because it doesn't have the penetration of LED and stretches less.

just wanted to stop in and +rep the cap'n

the girls definitely love the cree globes. interested in hearing about the ebay floods. I've been leary of them for failure, but at that price, it's probably worth a shot. I like the little rig they are in too, looks perfect for under canopy lighting on the floor/table.

Thanks OrangeHaze, at that price I couldn't resist, plus it has a 2 year warranty but I would have to ship it back. If something dies I might be able to just buy a replacement part cheap somewhere else.
I switched out the 660+445 and added the all 660 in the tents with the BR30's because I already have 4-5000k cree A19's with them and the new critical kush was not stretching much, went from one extreme to the other.
I think I'll put the 660+445 in the Cree A19 all 2700k cabinet next run and see what happens, the 660 may want to add stretch but I'm hoping the 445 will counteract that.
