Light can get through the hydroton - you should put a piece of panda plastic on top of them (that's what i do).yeah i filled the other pots up with hydrocks!!!
edit: how far is your HPS from your seedlings, inches/feet wise?
It is a 600w HPS and a 400w MH (so 1000w total) which i keep about 3 feet away from my little seedlings. as they get bigger - i'll let it get within 2 feet.

yeah i'm buying a 6" inline fan that's going to suck heat off the light and suck air out of the closet. And I'll be making a homemade carbon scrubber to go outside of the room.
this is going to be a much better grow this time around!

better safe than sorry OTOH - you don't want them stretching - especially using an HPS! - you can probably bring it closer. just keep a careful eye on them little babies!

panda plastic is that white/black poly - but any opaque, water-proof material will do the trick. it isn't necessary but if you note any growth in your res - then that is something you'll want to take care of... you can get panda plastic at gardening/hydro stores.

ahhh sweet i'll def keep an eye on the res. I had it filled with hydrocks whenever stretch was in flowering and didn't have a problem with algae build up, but we'll see.
I also sat the resevoir on top of a tote. It's about 7 inches closer to the light. I also have a fan blowing directly over the seedling.

thanks bro, I'm even more excited about this low ryder DWC grow!!!! ahh i can't wait! I definently had to get this on the road, can't hand feed the plants while I'm at the wedding.
Im ordering the inline fan right before I leave for the wedding and hopefully will be here by monday or tuesday!! Do I have to order anything else along with that inline?? Accessories or anything?

Not that I can think of. You have a glass plate on your reflector....you can get vent hose and tape for that @ the hardware store. Pick up some c hooks that screw in places as well (like the ones people use to mount lights by screwing the hook in by hand). Some wire coat hangers or some other type of pliable wire to hang the vent hose up off the floor and near the ceiling somehow with.
That should be it.
And whatever you do never order from these folks.

Im starting to see the potential in my own this year as well.
Here are my 4 pure sativa plants @ a month- 1 & 1/2 months old. They are an old bagseed Ive been making seed of for a while so I can keep them around because I like them.
Hopefully Ill be able to feed them more vigorously with some better nutes again. I ran out right before this grow and had to use some cheap shit.
