Strange phenomenon or genetic mutation?

Both hoods have built in ballasts. and you can buy the glass for them too. so the lights can be closest to the plants without heat stress.

They are air cooled. and only require a single booster fan to remover the heat produced by the ballast and bulb...

thats pretty tough for me to believe ..... but its possible depending on the temp of your intake....40 degrees?
In my 3x3x5 closet, I ran an aircooled 400w with absolutely no heat issues, once an intake line was ran into the box. 75F all day, 60 at night. My intake air is 70F.

I had NO intake. And just an exhaust. the pressure pulled air into the closet from under the door..
temps never rose about 82 degrees.

where do you guys get your five foot tall closets?........... did i miss a big sale?
Block off the shelf that is at the EXACT 5' mark in most closets that are up to building code. this will give you a ceiling and space to exhaust your air as well.
You can then block off the front of the grow and leave the closet open during the day if needed to exhaust air into the house.

Personally i exhausted my air outside. I drilled a hole in the side of the closet up top and attached my ducting to it.
