I don't think there should be tax deductions for charitable giving regardless of where the money goes. But religious organizations don't get special treatment--there's a whole universe of non-profit organizations and foundations that pay no tax.

I just feel that religious institutions can be motivated by profit and accrue wealth, just seems like a loophole to a certain extent. Have you seen the Mormon temple?

I live in a state w/ a Teabagger governor that's pushed his agenda for the last few years.

Tax breaks for "job creators" that were unfunded. The funding came from dropping state $ going to education and services to the poor and tax increases in other places.

Net result:
Unemployment has remained at the same level.
My property tax went up to fill the gap from the state giving less to education,
Sales tax went up.
Meals tax went up ( in a tourism driven area)
Rooms tax went up (in a tourism driven area)


The middle class, the working poor and the elderly have paid the price for tax breaks to rich people that created 0 jobs with that $.

It was a general comment. As soon as there's a free market and regulation, there will be big investors who put billions of dollars of cash into creating commercial marijuana operations and brands. They will defeat almost everyone else on cost and put almost everyone else out of business.

No, but I do have the money for a homebrew operation. And eventually can have the money for a microbrewery.

He benifited from a strong Independent in that race, lol he won w/ 38% of the vote.

But yeah, he preyed on the old and the scared to garner votes. Selling the same tired lies about trickle down economics and the scourge of government and taxes.

Meanwhile he raised taxes on every citizen of the state, he just did it with a thousand paper cuts instead of a hatchet wound.

He's brought no improvement to the job market, raised all our taxes while slashing services in order to give tax breaks to wealthy people that created no jobs.

Every once in a while enough people are scared enough to buy that song and dance. It then blows up and the people wake up again and boot them out in the next election

That's the hilarious thing. The advocates of legalization don't seem to comprehend that it will probably destroy their businesses.

The brewery situation was raised in another post, I'll stick with it.

There are more than enough small brewers, there are 5 within 20 mins of my house. Some people consider themselves connoisseurs, they won't drink Coor or Bud.

Same thing with weed. I've got patients that have asked what would happen if full legalization passed here. They all asked "will I still be able to get it from you?"

They are all older and more experienced smokers. They all want top shelf cannabis, produced organically and cleanly by someone they know and trust. They also want the customer service I can provide that no huge corporation can.

The strong will survive and the fly by nighters will dry up and blow away. I look forward to full legalization when it becomes a reality here.

All you need is to cover the spread. They rebrand and give the same scared people the illusion of change in the next candidate but the damage remains.

You are aware there is a difference between the Great State of Colorado and the federal government, right?
Again, I expect marijuana to be regulated by the state in the same way the state regulates alcohol.

The voters and politicians in Colorado do not have any say over the federal government and what they do.


I am sympathetic to the conservative viewpoint that our government is inefficient and should learn to use resources properly instead of just taking more taxes. Thing is, the republicans abandoned conservative thought years ago.

The Colorado government wants to regulate the industry to death, all the while complaining that the revenues will not cover the expenses. Which is a giant lie. Alcohol is regulated with a couple million dollars a year. The greedy politicians (democrats and republicans) are salivating at the prospect of 51% taxes on weed and you support that?

If the taxes are 51%, why would Joe Bowlsmoker pay $300 an ounce when he can get it from his old, illegal source for less than $200?

There are no recreational stores open right now. People are either getting weed in a dispensary or from their guy.
Getting a license is cheap and easy. If you buy more than one ounce a year, the tax savings will make it worth while to have a red card.

I know that rec stores will do fine, but 51% tax is fucking ridiculous and offensively un-American.

the democrats and obama have only lowered taxes on low skilled, remedial pool cleaners like yourself.

the republicans, however, have voted against the tax cuts you got in the ARRA. they also fought against the payroll tax cut that saved you $1000 a year.
