thoughts on lighting

Greetings all. I am looking for some feed back to a theory. My grow room consists of two 4x4x7 grow tents. One veg and one flower. I have one 600 watt and one 400 watt vented light. My thinking is that in the fall the light is not as strong outdoors as during spring and summer so I use the 600 watt for veg then when I move to the 12/12 tent the girls live under the 400 watt. Note I am only flowering 2 at a time. So my question to you all is, should my flowers see the fall light of 400 or would they be better served getting all the light they can? I dont want to buy another light at this time so which tent should I use the 400 watt in?
I look forward to hearing from you.

400 for veg 600 for flower as long as you can keep it cool give them as much light as you can for flowering
What he said.

Note that you have more than enough kit to set up a perpetual. Just get yourself an aerocloner, and create a schedule :)

Hi
I am new in this forum but not completely new in growing.
I used to grow on 400W metal halide lamp 10 years ago but the police came and shut me down.
Now I live in different place and I want to start growing again.
Reading the forum threads I realize what a noob I was in the past and how much the growing has evolved.
I want to start small with growing one medium planet. I want to take advantage of the latest technology but still keep it cheap.
Is 50X50 cm enough? Can I go smaller? (on the height I will go a lot to make DWC option available in the future)
I am considering LED but price is really high, so I decided to go on CFL
As far as I understood I need both 2700K and 6400K. is there a special ratio that is needed?
I see many white LED bulbs with 2700K, is it good? Can they replace the CFL? (6400K is bit hard to find)
As far as I understood 0.8gr/W is reasonable, so if I want one medium planet (120 gr) I need around 150W, is that correct?
Beside the lights I saw that filters are not cheap, is it possible to make your own small filter? (Since many organics can absorb smell I was thinking of wide diameter tube filled with layers of cotton and coffee)

Thanks for your help

If you have the ability to save up some money aren't living completely paycheck to paycheck I would definately save up the extra $ and go with leds. Look for led lamps with high watts per led. Solarstorms have 5w which is pretty good and also have 2 t10s for uvbs then there's also this diamond series one with 10w per led. I can't decide between the two yet.

If you want an simple white flashing lights then use reflecting colors LED light that will bright your room. One thing is that using ceiling lights everywhere in home is not feasible so use this light and make your room brighter. It should be bright and using white LED lights that can make an active and energized environment.
