Ok guy so I was growing at my friends house, since with both have our cards but i dont have the room to grow at my house, so he was the one taking care of it for me. long story short, he was growing it for a couple months and he harvested it just a couple days ago. he let it dry out and put it in a jar to cure it, and i just went over his house yesterday to drink a new beers and smoke a couple blunts. i get over there, the room is pretty dark, he shows me how much my plant grew, its already in a bang and everythin and i smell it and it smells pretty good. he told me that caterpillars got in it but they ended up saving some of the bud, and he said the shit they were able to save is good, and he even told me to open the bag a couple of times so it doesnt get moldy. i didnt think to think twice about it, plus since we were drinking we were just talking and were just rolling up and packin bowls without thinking. we were getting pretty drunk, but i noticed the tree was hitting really harsh.
so i get home today and i take a good look at it and its brown-ish on some parts. I do some research and realize this is mold. so i break off a little bit of the tip of the bud that is that good tree color and mix it with some of my normal weed i have. anyway i take another hit, and i do some more research now, and i realized that this moldy bud is no good, and i really should not smoke it at all. I just wanna know, am i safe?? i realize i really really should not have smoked any of that shit last night and today, and that research i did told me that smoking it can be really bad for it. maybe im just high right now but can someone tell me whats up???? i guess my friend really had no clue what he was talking about. is this tree going to be able to save at all?? or is it all contaminated...

Welcome Jester! If it was harvested just a couple of days ago, it can't be dry, much less cured. It *has* to be dry before curing or mold is inevitable. It seems to be a prevailing problem for people to wait those few days for it to dry and cure, LOL. You can water cure it to get rid of the mold.

Not safe for your lungs, moldy spores might get directly into your lung.
If even a Chance don't risk injury, water cure or make oil.
Be safe and watch your buddy and how he is Growing.

I would never let your friend near your plants again.

All good advice, especially this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^haha. How does it grow mould in a couple of days? That doesn't make sense.

It's not worth the risk. There's a hospital ward that one specialist told me was "near full" of patients with "antibiotic resistant" lung infections from smoking chop-chop [black market tobacco]. All it takes is one spore.
I'd be making me some BHO if it were mine :)

Thanks for all the input guys!! ok so you to make sure, as long as I dont smoke any from now on, you guys think i'll be good???? i really hope... but if something starts not feeling right/hurting in my lungs, then....ima have to go see the doc maybe...
and The reason it molded is because we got caterpillars, and we didnt realize until after we harvested it and he was trimming the tree. he told me that they took off all of the "brown shit", but at the time i dont think he thought it was mold.... he just told me that they took off the brown shit so it should be good, and he even told me "make sure you open the bag every once in a while, that way when you are curing it, it doesnt mold" this was before I got home the next day to actually find out it WAS molded, and we were smoking moldy weed this whole time. i think we smoked 2 blunts, 2 joints, and 3 bowls? the 2 blunts were mixed in with some good quality weed though, from the club.
I didnt even think about making BHO!! I will definitely be doing that then, but it will be fine even with the moldy bud? how would i go about making it specifically? just the same way as if it was not moldy tree?? thanks again for the help guys

Caterpillars don't cause mold. They chew the bud up and kill it. Did it look like this? This is some weed I just harvested a couple of weeks ago that the caterpillars got a hold of.

Was going to ask the same thing. I have always been able to smell mould before I can see it. I do not like the smell of poorly dried/cured bud when it's been too moist. It gets that nasty smell that tells you it's ready for some butane. Does it smell or taste mouldy?

If it IS mould & you smoked it, those spores can live for ages in your lung just waiting for a weakened immune system.haha. Mate if your that worried just take a course of colloidal silver [make it yourself & then it can be used on your girls if you need pollen] to kill any lurking nasties &/or take powdered dandelion root for two weeks to boost your immune system.
