10x10 grow room

I have curently setup a grow that is 10x10 although the height of the room starts at 4'5 feet and goes all the way up to 10 feet tall. I know this isn't your typical grow room. I'm 58 years old been growing outdoors since 1968 and at the point and time I have gave the outdoor grows up and wanting to move it indoor. I have a 1 600 HPS and 1 400 wat MH. I was planning on getting 3 more 1000 watt lights and trying to fit in 50 plants. Please all you young bucks and professionals that absolutly blow my mind with all this new technolgy and grow ops...put your input in. BAD or good. Thank you very much.

50 plants for a first timer indoor is crazy to start if you ask me... I say do 10 at the most. 50 plants tending to every day is going to be a lot of work especially if you do hydro or something similar that requires a lot of work. I did read you grew outside before, but inside is different

It is a grow room. I also understand it is going to be a lot of work but I'm more or less asking will 50 plants be an issue in a room this size? (4'5 feet and goes all the way up to 10 feet tall) and will 4000 watts be enough or do you think i could squeez them in and go with 3400 watts. I plan on vegging when there 2 feet tall and thinking they will get to be about 4 feet once done flowering so i do not see the need to seperate the buckets far from each other? Please let me know what your thoughts are. thank you
is it a grow room or tent

Id split it in 75/25% build a wall. Use the shorter area for plant vegging, cloning etc with LED or Fluoro's. Then run the taller side with the HPS lights. You'll save a lot of time with 2 separate areas. I think the decreased turnaround outweighs the smaller flower area. I dont know how the layout is or would work but you could use 5x5 for all the cloning, vegging etc. Each of the remaining 3 5x5 areas could each use a 1k light or even 3- 600's since you'll be getting cross lighting to help a bit (5x5 is a hair big for a 600) Thats just me though, whatever floats your boat!

You really think 600 watts for 5x5 area would be to much?

No I said 600 watts isnt really enough for a 5x5, but with multiple lights crossing over each other its much more feasible. If I was running a single 600 I wouldnt go over 4x4, hard core folks will say 3x3. a 1k will do 5x5 and the same hard core folks will say 4x4. I'm speaking of flowering of course, a 600 could easily veg a 5x5 area and a 1k could do 6-7ft easily.

Hey Old Guy..I am old too so I can say that?? I have 2600w in a 10x12.. Might be 14-16 plants (5 gal warrior pots), in there at any given time as it is a perpetual. 50 plants under that kind of light will grow you out of that space.. unless they are in Dixie cups..(joke) but your pot size will need to stay smallish.. Some of my plants go 6ft, I turn them at about 2-3ft. I pull an LB every four weeks or so..I think 50 is ambitious, I suppose if it were screened and rebarred down, no sarcasm intended, I thought it was over kill the first time I saw it..but with that many plants they are going to push the limits. That will require a little more ventilation than normal, climate control, especially in sleep will be a challenge. So plan on dehumidification and an easy 1200 cfm running most of the time. That's a lot of stuff for a small space, I do it though, just not with 50 plants. I think we should have a discussion on 120 sq ft 3K grows. There is a lot going on when you get into this category. Peace!

Appreciate the input, I am going to go for it. I have ventilation setup good. More worried about the heat but i will have cold outside air running in also. I plan on keeping them close to each other and vegging till about 2 feet and flowering from there. I think 3000 watts for vegging and I will add 1000 more wats for flowering. Thanks for the help.

Me, I'd go with 4, 3' x 3' flood and drain tables with 4kw hps. I'd put 25 clones, with no veg time in each table. That'd be the max for this room.

I'd use 4 600s or 2 1000s ,CO2,jacks classic 20/20/20.I'd run the 50 plants in 2 or 3 gallons buckets of pro mix or sunshine.Veg for 2 months and 12/12 'em.A couple ounces off each bucket I'd guess

^^^^what he said^^^^ Your main isues are going to be heat buldup and the goofy hieght of your room.

this sounds like a attic area. How well is this area insulated does the grow and flower room have to be part of the ten ft square? Is there any A/C if it is in a attic space?what about ventilation?
Do you have a basement to grow in?
What about power?Water?Drainage?
Whats the heat load like in the summer? what about the winter months if it is in a attic?
All of these things have to be considered when you set up a grow room and where you set up a grow room.
Almost anything can be over come with a liberal application of money.

4 600 watt lamps..think at least 2 tons of air and 4 1000 watt lamps around 3 tons of air in a attic. There is NO WAY you will be able to cool it with just ventilation.
You have to over come radiant heat absorbing through the slope of the roof on a hot day.The only way to know exactly what it is would be to know the surface area and insulation R factor to do a load calculation on the room.To Include exposure angle to sun.You can figure 3.4 BTU in the calculation per watt. plus heat added by pumps dehumidifiers . fan motors.
Id love to see your electric bill trying to cool it off so you can grow in it.
