buds won't dry

the weather has been rainy and very humid where i live so only one plant dried well prolly cuz it was closer to a fan. plus each time i open the jars for curings it catches up ambient humidity and fucks up my buds. the only solution i can think of is putting a deshumidifier in my grow room to keep it under 50% humidity no matter what cuz i'm getting tired of dumb humid hay after 1 month of drying / curing.

its like for one week it doesnt rain so my buds can dry but then it rains again and if i open jars to cure or pick some to smoke then the rest of content of the jars becomes humid and unsmokable again.

any input appreciated...

Raining or chances of rain mean hella high rh in your environment. Unless you can lower the rh by methods including a dehumidifier or placing damp rid in your grow room, then you are opening yourself up to a whole array of mold issues. Don't waste a few months of work in a few days by budrot. Many speak of poor yields as the bane of growers . I would have to say mold and budrot is the single most disturbing occurrence at harvest.

the thing is that there's no mold or budrot but buds are sweet and humid, if i press them beetween my fingers there's absolutely no dust the bud is all sticky. most annoying shit ever lol.

Run more fans on low. As suggested get damp rid. To clear moisture in the air. I hang dry for a min of a week or more before jar curing.

ok but i'm not sure if i can lower humidity from 90% to 50% just with damp rid. i have a 250 cfm intake directly plugged outside thats why i thought of an electric deshumidifier around 200 watts.

Why are the buds even in jars if they are not ready to be cured? What do you mean by saying "opening up the jars for curings?"

maybe you right only one plant was really dried the one closest to the fan... others were hanging in the top of the room with no real air circulation. plus i watered the plants under the shower after cutting to remove some spider mites.

you need to get a dehumidifier in your situation. I don't think anything other then that will lower RH from 90%

try storing in brown paper bags, it would also help to have some silica gel packs in the bottom of the bags. cheaper than a dehumidifier and it might work. never had 90% humidity before here though.

I agree with BarnBuster. If RH in your area is 90% a dehumidifier is a must. Nothing else will lower the RH to a optimal level. I would grab some HumidiPaks as well for the curing process.

There is no such thing as SOME spider mites.
I think you are right on the money with purchasing a dehumidifier.
Cut all of your buds and take all the leafs off of your bud while drying.The stems and leaves will feed moisture to the bud causing it to stay wet longer.
Another thing you can try is get you some paper bags.Put the paper bags in the microwave for a few seconds .Then put your bud into the paper bags and the paper bag will draw the moisture out of the buds.
If you have A/C in your home you can drop the temps down with the a/c lowering the humidity levels.Warm air holds more water than cold air.
Cold air will not hold as much humidity.
If you want to get rid of spider mites purchase you some AVID or LUCID and nuke the commie bastards before they fuck you over hard core.

I'm not a fan of that method. I feel it leads to uneven drying b/c the buds at the bottom of the jar don't get as much air as the buds on the top. It also doesn't do as good a job as if the buds are spread out.

After I do a 3 day hang dry I use big, shallow tupperware bins that have covers to spread the buds out in. I do 12 hours with the cover off, then cover for 12 hours. This process lasts for 2 weeks and gives a nice slow dry. Then they go into jars once the RH becomes acceptable. I use a digital hygrometer to test the RH.

As for watering in the shower after cutting, that sounds really dicey. The last thing you want to do is get the buds wet. I've never had spider mites but I saw a show where a guy used a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove the webs. That seems better than cleaning the buds with water.

That's true, but within a couple 2 or 3 hours after putting the lid back everything reaches equilibrium and is the exact same moisture content.

I don't like jars until they're ready for the cure regardless.

IMO, jars are for curing and trays are for drying. I've had better results drying in trays where everything is spread out compared to having the buds loaded up in a jar and trying to dry by opening and closing the jar. Like you said it takes 2 to 3 hours to reach an equilibrium. That's 2 to 3 hours wasted IMO. To each his own.

i am having the same issue where my buds are amazing but due to high RH in the air. my buds cant actually start curing. (they say buds will begin "curing " at 60-65RH)

So i sectioned a room off with a dehumidafyer, bring it to 60%RH and the buds do smell alot better and become nice and crisp. thing is they still dont smell the best because when the buds leave ther jars in that 65%RH room the get hit by the 80% humidity in the air and taste harsh and hayish. and loose a bit of smell. and this is after like 2.5 - 3 weeks of curing .

so i relly dont fuckin know any more haha.

im doing first jar cure,there in week 6 and still are not finnished with cure,these were taken of the bottom of the plant i will be cutting her in the next few days,and was hopeing the 1/2 of dryed bud would be ready,,but its still not,lol
and now i got really big dence buds to do the process too its not easy growing your own good weed,.

Iv been reading about flushing. and apparently if you dont flush rele good before harvest, then no matter how good you cure it its always guna taste and smell funny.
