First, I never mentioned inflation adjustment, that was you, but nice try!

The national debt is a combination of public debt and intragovernmental holdings. The public debt is American public treasury bills, savings bonds, government retirement funds, etc. Intragovernmental holdings are when the government borrows money from the people, most of it came from social security $150billion+.
Clinton borrowed over $246Billion from off budget funds(intragovernmental holdings) his $230B surplus was actually a $16Billion deficit.

well the blame from those two is fairly equally distributed between the assholes on both sides of the aisle.

democrats started the War On Drugs bullshit with Ainslinger and his cronies, but republicans have embraced that bullshit with both arms and now wallow in the crap right alongside the lefties.

the republicans (in the form of GWB) started the "War on Terror" and the democrats simply hopped on the bandwagon.

A public debt is a misnomer. If any person has the power to indebt another, even without that persons consent, they own the other person at least in part. A legitimate debt can only be created by a person consenting to a deal OR by causing another person to suffer a loss. When you cause another a loss, you owe them restitution to make them whole.

The government word smithed "public debt" into creation. It has meaning, but only because they have the guns to make it so, not because it is part of any legitimate mutual exchange.

Extraordinary Renditions, which became the backbone of the early war on terror were started by a democrat - Clinton... I give credit to GWB for the war on terror in one aspect - the importance placed on CAPTURE rather than KILL... With Obama policy there's not too much detaining going on, rather the ROE is loose and most are declared hostile...

This is the whole crux of the matter, when the Tea Party faction of the house stands up for their constituency and puts forth legislation to control spending, they are labeled as obstructionists or even worse yet, racists. The Republicans are too chicken shit to make a stand with them.
The democrats on the other hand know that cutting the budget means they lose votes and with that, elections because that's how they buy their voters.

Democrat vs Republican...same old story with the same old results...$17,000,000,000,000 is the low estimate...total national debt can be as high as $222 trillion when you include unfunded long term liabilities. When our Government finally has to admit the huge Ponzi Scheme it has been running we are all in for a world of hurt. We are all on the deck of the "USA Titanic" and instead of addressing the sinking ship we are all on they have us argiung about gay marriage, Obamacare, women's reporductive rights, illegal immigration and etc.

I now believe our Poiticians are slightly more honorable than the citizens. At least they get along.

It takes a special kind of person to fight against sequestration, then take credit for deficit cuts because of it, then fight to have them repealed, while bragging about how Obama is the one to cut the deficit. It's the same people who say Bush's budget included stimulus spending and the stimulus saved or created 4 million jobs.

Integrity is not a strong suit of the left it appears.
