The Ocean is Broken

That article is over dramatic. 3000 Nautical miles without a sign of life? And they usually see sharks, dolphins and schools of fish?

I hear about dolphins following boats all the time, and I really doubt that if you chum the water you don't get some sharks.

I feel like that article was just someone that wants to pretend everything is worse than it really is. And if it's such a problem, why is he riding around in a boat doing nothing and not starting coastal hatcheries?
Tell me a bit about Fukushima, Sir Shag :)

The last time I drove from Colorado to Minnesota I didn't see 1 fish...not one! Not even a dolphin.

Just in case everyone didn't know. The world has been warming ever seen since the last ice age. There is record breaking ice levels at the south pole currently. The earth finds new ways to create status quo. It regenerates its self just like it has been doing for millennia. Stop freaking out so much.
Yes, the earth cools and heats as it has done forever. The problem is that WE are wreaking havoc on the ecosystem with our industrial revolution. Before just 100 years ago the Earth had never seen anything like what we are doing. It should be so obvious, even to small minds. We breath carbon dioxide and it doesn't kill us, right? Why don't you go suck on your tailpipe and see what happens? Get it?

I never said we weren't wreaking Havock. I said the ocean is not broken.

Just BTW.

I'm not even going to respond to the MLK post. Does not deserve a reply.

oh u want to go into that

fish now are basically toxic ............the mercury lvls in them have shot up in the last 20 years and eatting a diet of only fish or mainly fish is having some pretty bad effects on ppl
link
then u have a increase in mass beaching and i mean a increase every year the numbers of counted dead sea life showing up on shores
link
then we got the blobs of goo
link
and given our planet is 2/3 water most of the quakes/shifts/openings are in the water and this can cuase massive releases of toxic things that kills off most things and leaves those little tube worms things no one can eat

i know the links of from where they are but u can check the info for self on others i grabbed the first decent ones i could from a quick 1 sec search
Again, talking about this doesn't help. Suggest solutions, or shut up. You can't just come at every suggestion with "well there's more problems" say "well we could also try to solve X"

I feel the same way about this as I do about conspiracy theorists, TALKING ABOUT IT DOESN'T HELP unless you are talking about solutions. We all know shits fucked. We all know it needs to get better.

the link in the OP was way over dramatic but holds truth

"There was not one of the 28 days on that portion of the trip when we didn't catch a good-sized fish to cook up and eat with some rice," Macfadyen recalled..

HAHAHA, I can drive 30 mins from here and catch enough fish in a day to feed me at least a week. Da fuq is he talking about not being able to catch a fish to eat when he's on a boat for 28 days? Maybe he should apply for a new job.. how about working at a seafood restaurant.

See I told you do not worry about it. It is not like the earth is a finite resorce, like a "bubble" floating in space. You can just continue to shit on the environment with no problems.

kill off 7.8 billion ppl on the planet and start over giving time for the eco system to filter out what we have done

set off the doomsday weapon (4 nukes set for the 4 axis of the planet if they are set off at the same time it will cuase a massive shift in the world from the shock waves hitting at the core then recoiling back )

take out every one in power and have them sent to a dead island and put a bunch of 7 year old kids in charge (opps that is what we have now never mind)

line the whole world evvery 30 miles a nuke and give me the button and time on the air ........we all get along or we all die together pick u have 7 days (and i will push the button first crap from cuba iran north korea china ) even if they disable a few of them the fall out would end all life

oh i know i know .................we make them tell use the truth and grant us access to telsa resreach and input the world power grid he invented.............opps big brother and the power ppl would not like free unlimited engery the world would be doom

at this point the system is so broken so twisted the only thing to do is scrap it all and start over ............the ppl in charge the ones with the money and power will never allow this so my final answer is to say fuck do what u want untill they push u to far and u are willing to say NO and die for it ...........then find me on the feild and fight back

but untill the mass of the ppl on the planet start using the god given mind they have nothing will change ..............so make a shit load in the drug trade get out and buy a compound in a far away place 500 feet above sealvl watch it all go to hell then blow your brains out

Okay. And when the earth was spewing millions of tons of sulfur and ash into the air from all of the volcanoes the earth never recovered... o wait, it did. Nvm.

1. It took millions of years for it to recover and no human could have survived.
2. That is a natural disaster that we have no control over.
3. We DO have control over the damage we are doing that WILL result in our self destruction, that the Earth will likely recover from, in say, another million years give or take.

If we lived forever, but knew that we would die from smoking cigarettes, would you still smoke?

it's a total conspiracy perpetrated by none other than the Japanese.

First: irresponsible over-fishing worldwide to feed their insatiable appetite for the product.

Now: fukushima!!!

I think they are just getting back at us for dropping the bomb on them.

Today I went to get some sushi for lunch. I asked point blank if they knew about the yellow salmon in BC, etc... They said no. But, they did say that they would no longer eat fish from the Pacific.

Then I ate salmon and some katsu. Rebel.
