I love mulching too bro, the fox farm soil conditioner has a ton of bark in it, and I add a 3 inch layer on top of esch pot and stuff has been loving it, especially my coco plant. Your stuff looks spectacular man, very very close to perfection . Ill keep listening and learning from you.

I used to do canna mulch. My yields suffered. Then they went up when I stopped. I think they produced too much nitrogen into the soil. Its good for early veg.. But not flower.. Like spicy I feed them to the worms among other things. Bark may be Better though. I've topdressed compost that had some bark in it. No adverse effects from that.

I use a Rooibos mulch. Very cool stuff. I will take a pic of the texture of it. Somewhere between coco and bark. Works a treat, and it's local too. For once, living here has it's advantage far as organic goodness goes :)

I'll have to look into that Rooibos mulch. Sounds interesting.

I'll try to get an update up soon, maybe this evening. They're coming along really nicely, and should be done in 7-10 days or so. A few upper leaves got a little crispy around the edges due to a recent ridiculously dry spell we had. The RH dropped to about 18%; my plants are accustomed to 45%. No big deal, as you'll see. Other than that, it's been smooth sailing.

Seriously low... I would have fired up my humidifier if I saw it coming! Oh well. The damage is minimal, and bud development didn't skip a beat.

Another thing I am loving about organic indoor. It seems to have a much bigger buffer for extreme conditions than hydro ever could. You guys must excuse me my noobish excitement with this stuff. I am sure diggin it like all get out.

Hell yeah! Plants have evolved alongside soil microbes for many millions of years. It makes sense that they'd be hardier as a team than all by their lonesome.

based on your input i went out and picked up some mulch for my plants (one plant in particular, i am trying out a fabric pot for the first time and boy does it dry out quickly). I bought roots organics brand coco chips (http://www.aurorainnovations.org/coco-chips.html).it's kinda pricy at 18 bucks for a little over 2 cubic feet but im thinking il be able to reuse it easily. hopefully i get a little more wiggle room between waterings out of the deal.

Nice! Coco chips are a good idea.

This is stupid daylight savings crap has put a damper on my garden photo updates... I like to snap pics right before the lights come on, but now I don't make it home from work in time... I'll see if I can snap some updated pics this weekend. If not, keep an eye out for harvest pics early/mid next week. :)

I gave the cloth pots a try, but they aren't for me. They just lose too much moisture to evaporation. The mulch will help with that.

10-gal hard pots for me.

10 gal hard pots are my usual as well. after a series of events I ended up choosing to put a mother plant in a 20gal fabric pot to fill the space where two 10gal pots would normally go. the plant itself is kicking ass but even with 20 gallons of soil it needs a drink about every 36 hours (about 4 weeks into bloom)

It's chop chop day. I pulled the trigger on the earlier side of the harvest window (approx 10% amber) because I'm not looking for too much couchlock out of this Atomic Northern Lights.

The ANL is a pleasure to smoke. It's got a unique, sweet/fruity smell with a little bit of that old-school skunky undertone. It's not knockout strong, but has a nice, functional mix of head and body affects. A good word to describe the buzz would be "pleasant"; it brightens my mood and eases my back pain without rendering me useless, which is EXACTLY what I was going for. Like I mentioned earlier, I harvested on the early end of the harvest window to hold off some of the couch lock.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. Pleasant, mood lifting, pain relieving, and tasty. Yield was respectable, too. I don't weigh my harvests, but let's just say it yielded nearly twice as much as the Girl Scout Cookies I grew last round.

I'm out of town for work this week, but I've been meaning to start up a general grow log to document the goings on in my garden. Right now I've got my four XJ-13 clones at about day 6 of bloom. I think this cold spell we're having here in CA might have slowed them down a little, but I'm confident that they will finish strong.
