I haven't read every single post, but I have skipped over them all. I am really interested in as much feedback as I can about these OG Hoods. I have seen the videos, and read the reports, but I not convinced because of all the different reports.

Cocacola, would you please provide us with as much information about these OG Hoods as you can. I am thinking about buying 4 of these hoods, and matching them with 4 Solis Tek Matrix Ballasts with the Solis Tek bulbs, which I have been told will be a knockout. My options for hoods is extremely limited, so I cant just go out and buy any kind of hood. I dont feel the Cool Tubes are worth bugger all, too much light is being lost out the ends, and there seems no way of gaining that back, I think the only way to go is using these vertical hoods the same as these OG hoods, which appear to me to have the best of just about everything. The only problem I see, is the OG hoods are NOT for use in tents, as the recommended height for raising the light is over 6ft.

I'll have to point out that these hoods def work and work well, but with that said it depends on your needs and room size. I have a lot of height room so they work perfectly for me. They do put an intense penetrating light pattern down on plants within a 3x3ft area, they do of course hit up to 5x5ft 36" above canopy pretty well, but the most intense light is in the 3x3 range and honestly I can't stress enough that its intense. Any plant that is in that range or directly under the light within 12-18" will get torched so to speak. You will get bleaching and yellowing from chlorophyll breaking down under such intense light. Unless you have a ridiculous venting situation with an 8" inline fan per 2 hoods than maybe it will be less intense. These hoods are taller than hoods like magnum or raptor hoods so thats another reason for needing a room with headroom. Other than that they are 24x24" in width. So with all that involved I do recommend these hoods because I had magnum hoods for two years and have seen an increase in yield and bud density from using og hoods (used properly...cleaning after harvest and 20" above canopy or more)

Now to the update! four plants chopped, four to go! day 54 flower....i believe the rest will be done by the end of the week. So far its been an average of 4zips a plants, I say average bc cbd crew critical mass was 3 1/2 taken a lil early due to signs of nanners , the first white kush was a lil over 4... still waiting on the monster white russian mom results but looking like a day or two more of drying but its alot! hopefully around 7 or 8 :) Purp paralysis was seems a bit weak on yield maybe 2 1/2 but they were as sticky and resin covered felt like trimming sap like buds lol. Now to the pics

Thanks for coming back and explaining that like you did. My setup is pretty much fark all right now, however my goal is for 3 or 4 Aquamist Systems, the same as SeeMoreBuds showed in the videos. Now unfortunately those systems are not available where I live, so I am sourcing good quality parts, and building a heap of these systems myself. So far the Polyethylene lids have just arrived, with a cost of $250, and works out to be just over $60 for each tank lid. I have turned my nose up at all the cheap ass Chinese pumps I have found, and I have settled on 4x 2400LPH pumps from TUNZE, which are made in Germany. I wanted to use a General Hydroponics Dual Diaphragm Air Pump, but those are also not available, so it looks like I might have to use several of the EHEIM Air Pumps, which seems pretty good to me.

So my plan is to have 3 or 4 of these Aquamist systems in my tent, along with 3 or 4 of these OG hoods, powered by 1000w Matrix Ballasts and Solis Tek bulbs. They will be fed with Advanced Nutrients either the Sensi, or Connoisseur, as well as B52, Voodoo Juice, Big Bud and Overdrive. My measurement show I can expect around 55x 3" Net Pots, which I bought from the US.

So as these systems are fixed and reasonably small, my tanks are about 22" in height, and my tent is 2 meters, which is 78" or 200cm, so I would think these hoods will just scrap in for height.
Any comments...?

I will admit it will be a close one with height, but if you manage your plant canopy to be wider with tying down or supercropping you should be fine.

The final results of all the 8 plants was 35 zip, which is very weak in terms of grams per watt, but with that said there was plenty of empty space to fill . Which will be filled next run. I also plan on using all cmh next run with no hps in the middle. Tune in soon as my clones are in the process of rooting up from my mother plants :)

I ran similar or the same bulbs with magnetic ballasts and my yield was not as good as HPS. Frost wasn't noticeably better, either.

I'm thinking the best approach is some of both, or maybe 315W LEC. I'm also wondering if the digital ballasts had any effect, as I'm well aware that square wave ballasts are better for light production than sine wave types- even if they're more expensive.

Are you stoned? This is a old thread.
But yeah just look at the hortilux platinum price. low freq square wave must be the secret .

Unfortunately I'm stone cold sober- and yes, I know the thread is old, but then so is my experiment with 860W CDM lamps. I hear you on the Horti platinum ballasts- SPENDY, but they might well be the difference.
