Have you tried Nematodes? I use them a lot for soil growing for preventave maintaince. They kill over 200 soil insects and eat Gnat eggs and stop them from breeding and do not hurt anything good in the soil or the plant. They have always done anything i have needed and are simple to use. many times they come in a sponge. You soak the sponge in water then water your plants. Thats all then they go to work.

I have heard of nematodes but haven't tried them. I just had a quick read up on them there just for the fungus gnats and other larvae are they or will they work with root aphids? might have to give them a try I'm sure it can't hurt. Haven't seen them at the local hardware store though do you just buy them on the net? cheers

sorry, i've never had them. i would think drying things out, adding a layer of sand, and hanging sticky pest strips might get rid of a lot of soil pest issues.
maybe switch from an oil to a systemic since they're still so young.

Thanks for the reply TWS, I looked for the tree and shrub but could only find 2 other products by bayer. I bought them both and both ha[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]ve[/FONT] IMIDACLOPRID as there ingredient.
The little one has 200 grams a litre , how many drops should i use of it? it only has a foliar application chart should i go of that and just soak the soil? THANKS MATE!

yeah i am so pissed of i used the soil i used, it was twice as expensive as the other soils and I'm sure thats where all these bugs came from. I had one un-opened bag left and when repotting the SAGE yesterday i opened it and hundreds of gnats flew out. I just bin'd it and used a cheap bag i had. Thanks for the help guys.

i had a bag of soil one time that left me with mushrooms growing beside my plants (indoors). same batch of clones planted into the same space. every time i watered, mushrooms would try to pop up on the 3 plants from that bag of soil. all the others were fine.
not all bags of soil are equal.

I found this information on this site about nematodes. I truly do not understand why people do not use them more often. It is by far the cheapest and easiest way to kill almost anything in your soil or on the surface of your soil. They eat the bug and its eggs. I buy them online there are many places that have them. Some nurseries carry them also. How i found out about them is I lived in an area before that always got fleas in the grass. An old man told me about watering the grass with nematodes and it will kill the fleas. It worked and i researched from there. I usually apply them once then again in a week just to be sure. Never had a problem after.
Nematodes:
These microscopic worms are pretty awesome. They only effect soft-bellied insects like fungus gnat larvae (no animals - so dont worry!)
Nematodes get sucked up into the guts of the larvae, and begin to colonize and multiply and multiply and multiply until they finally burst
open the stomach of the larvae (dealing it out a very nasty death) and releasing more nematode colonies into the medium in the process.
Nematode Application Rates:
Apply 1 Million (1 packet) Nematodes per each grow light in your grow space. Each packet of nematodes is dropped and mixed into a
1 Gallon container of water (pH as normal) then hand applied to each plant. Then remove sponge and toss into reservoir

I hav been thinking of moving to your country for about 3 years now. How legal is growing there? Is there a 2 plant limit and that is why you are growing the others out in the bush?
Trip out ! When I tried to quote your post it did large Font too. The site has a lot of bugs too . lol I haven't been able to restart paragraphs for a long time. I have got bugs from every bag of roots organic I have gotten. There are two bugs soil gets. Fungus gnats and root aphids. Both have flyers. Looks like you got the stuff with the right stuff in it. You can get Tree & shrub on line if needed but you have the right ingredient. Bayer is a root drench systemic Chem. I would say you need to root drench per instructions. Don't over drench and don't over water after words for awhile. Give to the plants when soil is pretty dry so they take it up. I have a bad problem with root aphids or maybe fungus gnats outside. They were in my plants all summer. Bayer only really controlled them this year which is strange because it knocks the fuck out of them indoors but I don't think I used a strong enough application for the size of the plants outside. They might be fungus gnats too though. I found some larvae when I was scratching in the topsoil.They are kinda hard to tell apart. Root aphids don't have larvae. They are A sexual and have live young. I have a whole kiddie pool of kind ass amended soil with fucking bugs in it. No plants or roots in it. just bugs. Im bummed out. Same shit that was in my plants all summer. Really don't want to put any Chems in there with no plants in it. Might try the Nematodes in that batch of soil. Please let me know how you do.

thanks for the reply on the nematodes hilltop ill look into getting some! about the law its illegal to grow any plants its just that with only a few plants the punishment is minimal!
