I just put up my at600 and it's not bad or hot, but the my IG420 was cooler for sure. Watts used to make light will make heat too, even with very efficient lighting.

A pale of water in the tent will bring up the RH...not the fanciest but it works.
 
Thank you Abiqua for the welcome and advice. Are you using a humidifier to get your RH up to that range? Oh is that outdoor RH or indoor? Will be nice when the cold snap moves on and the typical rainy (warmer) weather moves back in, I am curious to see what my RH will be then.

Good info on the mites also, god I hope to not get an infestation! I grown from seed and have no other live plants around so hoping them lil bastards wont come visiting. Gonna look into the bucket of water trick first and see if it helps, if not off to HD or Amazon for a humidifier.
 
Greengenes707 that AT600 looks sick! Did you buy it to replace the IG?

Yea everything fits real nice with my ebb/flow garden being the same dimensions as the light (actually the garden is not as wide as the light so that is good as my canopy
grows all the ladies will still be under direct light)

Gonna do the pail trick and hope it works good enough, this hobby gets expensive lol

Hello and welcome Mr. John! the garden looks very promising! i'm happy that there's going to be another IG garden here to keep eyes on -=o)

as far as your concerns on RH, i think you are correct for being concerned. the thing to research is called Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD). heres a chart that kinda puts the numbers into a nutshell:

the "target RH" depends on the temperature of the air. for my boom area i prefer RH to be between 65% and 70% and day temps are set to 75F. if you look in the chart above, you see that those values are within the ideal range. i suggest that before you take the RH above 50%, that you make sure to have a Hepa filter set up for your incoming air. the traditional paradigm of 50%RH is to try to find the compromise between VPD (moist is better) and the need to prevent outbreaks of PM or other molds (moist + spores = mold). prior to installing Hepa filters for my garden i had to spray for PM weekly; since the Hepa filters i haven't had PM once.

Thanks Urban! Great link, just got done reading the articles. Going shopping for a humidifier tomorrow, when I was planning my garden many months ago (was working in Afghanistan) had allot of time to think. Well TBH I was very close to buying a dehumidifier! Living in the cool rainy PNW who would have thought I would need a damn humidifier!

Gonna try a few things first, I am going to measure the RH outside my grow tent and if it is much higher I will go to an active intake air fan. Right now I just have a filter/fan setup on the exit side so any incoming air I would think is passive. If the RH inside my home is not within range I guess I will have o purchase a humidifier.

mold loves it humid.

indica often come from dry arid areas.

I never had a humid grow, sativas do ok for me in 10-15% RH.
wonder if it would help them......

i didn't know that about charcoal filters... i don't use mine! so perhaps those that use them might need to take that into consideration, but for those of us that don't use them, it's a non-issue.

as for the mold, get a Hepa filter. humidity doesn't cause mold; mold spores cause mold. True Hepa filters down to something like .2 micron, and that will prevent mold spores from coming in with the intake air. i use a DustShroom, and it works perfectly, even without having been cleaned in over a year!

i haven't used a dehu in a grow room for a long time... what i noticed within a week when i made the adjustment to adhere to the proper VPD, was that the plants didn't dry their soil as quickly, and also they had less likelihood for leaf tip burn; overall they looked a lot healthier. dryer air draws moisture from the plant at a higher rate (increases evapotranspiration), which causes an increase in the uptake of water by the roots. as the water moves into the plant, osmosis carries additional nutrient ions into the plant too. these excess ions can contribute to burn. dryer air is like force feeding the plant, higher humidity in proper accordance with VPD will allow the plant to eat at a more leisurely rate, as it wants to. just remember to use a Hepa filter. and with that Hepa intake, keep the room at a positive pressure, to ensure that any air leaks in the room are not entry points for spores, bugs or other pathogens/vectors.

No pontoons yet though. They are waiting for the boards so they can finish them

the cool thing is you can hang it upwards or side ways. There's holes at each end. It came with triangles and link hooks to link and hang multiple vpars. I'll play with it later. I'll post pics of it hanging in both directions.
 
Still waiting for my I Beam. I'm pretty sure it's gonna end up with an ebay refund. Apparently the ebay seller "aerostargreengarden" is a dead beat piece of sh!t.

Starting week 2 and they are starting to really grow good now. Lots of new growth, one c99 the lower leaves are curling under a bit, this might be from my really low RH, a humidifier is on the way to help. This IG420 is really putting out some light, I have faith enough to go from 5 plants to 8 and believe that light will be enough thru flower.

Thought I was the only one growing in the cold.
My shed plants seen 40' F this week.
So dam cold @ night ,I'm kinda amazed they are not dying...

Hiya Scar! No you're not alone. The winter buds are smaller and show more purple but even in this cold they keep us in the goods,
 
The boys are getting set up for an 8 bucket DWC system that will split 4 buckets per side. All I can say after seeing this setup is it's too bad it's tomato's.

hahaha thats funny and awesome too :lol::lol::lol::lol::bigjoint:. Darryl and Jeff told me the same thing. I just figured it gets better coverage. I brained out on doing that before it even showed up.
