This is not my first rodeo when it comes to growing. But this is however my first attempt at vegging so long. Normally 2foot plants make the flip, but this round i have made 3.5 foot plants determine my flip. I grew massive stems under 1000w super MH for 3 months. They will b flowering under 2 1000w HPS. one HP will be 12 hrs on off and the second kicks on 2hrs after first and shuts off 2 hrs before my constant 12hr turns off. I grow in 20 gallon pots and use only soil ammendments for food and fertilizer. no synthetic fert is added until bloom and stopped 2 weeks prior to last week flushing.

Let me know what you think. Is the quality and yield affected directly by stem size? ty bday winter 2013 214.jpgty bday winter 2013 213.jpgty bday winter 2013 118.jpg
The first 2 pics r from the first day of light after 1 full 24 hr period of dark before flip.
The last pic is of veg plants but they wont go into flower for another 50 days!
IS THIS ALL GOING TO BE WORTH THE TIME. AVG PREVIOUS HARVEST MAKES 2.5-3 oz per plant.
STRAINS: Deep purple. Critical Mass, Blueberry, Super Lemon Haze and a new player to the game Crypt the Chronice.

The stems don't matter as much as the huge root system you developed after that long of veg.

.
So your total flowering lights on time will be, 16 hours with only 8 hours darkness? Thats veg not flower.

The way I read it is....he's rocking two 1000w HPS. 1 of them runs for the full 12hrs and the other one will turn on 2 hrs late and shut off 2 hrs early....I don't really get why though, it doesn't make sense to me.

Oh, for a total of 12 hours, running each bulb only 10?

I guess he's trying to mimic natures dawn and dusk cycles? IDK I run everything 24/7.

PKHydro....exactly right on light schedule. the only reason i do this is circumstance. i havent harvested yet this winter and went for the long veg and have been paying a 200 elect bill for couple months now. i know it will more than pay off but its still hard to watch that meter spin until im ahead on bill, then let er'rip. it also has shown me a nice wakeup temp inside room and a nice cool down period at end just before total dark.

The only downside I can see to growing taller plants indoors is that HID only penetrates roughly 2 feet. Don't get me wrong, you are going to have a killer harvest, I am just not sure it is the most efficient method IMHO.
