You aren't a criminal, are you?
Rape is a crime of power. It's generally perpetrated by a person who is defective, and feels inferior, or a person who perceives a major slight by the victim (or people who look like the victim.) It can also be a compulsive "need" that the rapist feels. This compulsive "need" is a defect, and is most common in child rapists.
Murder is a crime of violence. There are a number of reasons to murder, few of them overlap with rapists -- with the exception of sado-sexual psychopaths. Murder has the lowest rate of recidivism in the criminal sphere.
Robbery and burglary are crimes against property, again there's overlap, but generally the overlap is robberies (including "home invasions.") Most burglars are petty thieves, and not up to pulling the trigger.
And then, there's drug use and sales -- remember, these are the crimes with the highest rate of repeat offense. Drug use and sales shows a lack of respect for authority, a disregard for the law and "acceptable social norms," and (especially in the case of repeat offense drug dealers) a lack of respect for the sanctity of life.
Your comment shows a lack of empathy towards human beings, and a general disregard for life. Making you appear to have more in common with serial rapists and repeat-offender murderers than most burglars.
Honestly I have a lot of respect for human life. I was a volunteer Firelighter/Paramedic for a lot of years I did that because I value the lives of everyone in my community. I am Christian and go to church every Sunday and pray before every meal. I realize that does not make me a better person than the next.
I am also a very strong believer in the second amendment and even though I pray I will never have to kill another human, I would do so if the time arose. It would bother me probably for the rest of my life. I have nightmares all the time of the people I couldn't save as an EMT, so killing someone even in defense of my life, liberty and pursuit of happiness would tear me apart.
If someone broke into your house to steal everything you worked your whole life for, your wife happened to be in the kitchen. You see he was beating her to death with a candle stick and you had a gun would you just watch???
If you came home and your neighbor was molesting your 6 year old daughter, you had a gun on your hip would you put it down and ask him nicely to leave?
If you walked in on your loved ones being brutally raped and you had a gun would you ask them to use a condom and put the gun down?
If a masked man was walking through your house at 3AM and you noticed he had a gun, your telling me you would not point it right at his chest and tell him not to get the hell out and he went for his gun. You wouldn't try to save your life or the life of your family?
If you say you wouldn't put a bullet in their ass it makes you appear to be either a Liar or a moron...
Compare me to whatever you want because it's your right, just like I still have a Second Amendment Right and a bunch of common sense laws that allow me to defend me and my family.
But in the end we are not the judge of each other..
I feel that letting someone murder, rape, molest, or rob someone knowingly is just as bad as doing it myself.
