Top them or leave them be?

Hello..another newbie question, please have patience with all my questions, I've asked a lot. :peace:
This is my very first grow and I am trying to decide if topping my plants is simple enough for a new grower to do. I'd also like to hear reasons why I shouldn't. I'm trying to learn.
I have 7 White Widow feminized plants growing in FF soil under a 1000W air cooled MH lamp @~22" above the canopy with temps of 77 degrees and R/H 40%. My closet is 4'x5'x7'. I think I have enough room in the grow space to top but you are the pros.
Plants are currently on day 26 of veg and stand about 7-8" tall. No signs of sex, that I can see, but they were feminized seeds.

If you think I should top... when?

In these pictures I am showing where I believe I would snip to top my plants (Does this look right??) The other pictures are a shot of the plant height and a group picture...how do they look?

Thank you for all your comments...photo 3 (18).jpgphoto 1 (22).JPGView attachment 2943571

Theres a good thread that will give you a plant woodie. Its called the mainlining thread. Read that and you will freak the fuck out dude, id put money on it. Thank me later. And if you can pull off this semi complicated grow like the author of the thread explains you will go from first time noob to semi pro in one grow. But judging by your set up, and your plants your already doing well for yourself because everythings up to par in my book. Hope to see the girls in the future doing just as well :):):)

Thanks Alien. I guess another question would be space. I would only top once. Are 7 WW in a 4x5 room too much with a single top?

Any other suggestions on whether to top or not?
This morning I noticed a couple of the girls leaves are now almost wider than their 4 gallon pots after another night with a lot of growth.
Day 27 since fully erect with first leaves, 29 since germination.
I think I read enough to do the deed...the question is should I?

Your call on what you want to do. You have obviously done your research and plants looks great.

I will just say not to be afraid of topping.

Where you pointed loos more like a FIM attempt. For a normal top you would go lower. Cut out out that whole center top, leaving only the two new ones that have already started.

Yes...about 1/4" below the tip of the pointer, close to the base...gotchya!

Perfect size to top in my opinion. Just snip out the top being careful not to damage the two lateral buds that sit in the axil of the leaf. Those turn into your new tops.

I agree with aim aim. Perfect time to top them. They look great, with having 7 you could top one or two to see how it goes if you wanted. That's going to be alot of vegetation in a 4x5 space. I can fill 3x3 with 2 easily, sometimes in the past I've filled that space with 1.

Good Luck and Happy Growing!

2 questions...
With the plants being at day 28, if I topped, when's the earliest I would switch to 12/12
And the room being 4x5, looking at the picture from above, do you think topping it once would be hard to manage in that closet considering it's my first grow?
*OR...What about topping only 4?
Thanks a lot

I always recommend not topping on your first grow. Watch how it grows naturally. Then when you top on next grow, you will have a full and complete understanding of what changes and why.

You got a lot of variables going on. I got a 5 X 5 with six plants going now. Why don't you look at those and you'll see the size I top at and how I trained and vegged them, that would probably be the most help I could offer really. Feel free to PM me if you wish. Make sure to check out post #31
