The platform on which the plants sit (and which has four three-inch-round intake ports) is actually a "false bottom" in that there is a seven-inch-high compartment on the very bottom of the cab, painted black, and one 4" x 10" vent on each side of this compartment, each fitted with with one of these (

The air goes in through the vent grilles on the sides, and up through the four holes in the "false floor" and into the cab. Because the various intake vents are roughly perpendicular to each other, very little light gets out through the side vents (which have adjustable louvers to change the amount of air -and light- that gets through).
