Nightrider update. Week 6 of flower

I have 3 phenos, I didnt get photos of them all today though.

This is the one I am paying the most attention to. She hasn't started swell yet, in fact she hit a second wind and pumped out another big flush of pistils.

Shes a lot more sativa dominant than I expected to see from this strain if im honest but im not upset. Very open bud structure, but looking at her I think once she swells and fills out she's going to be quite impressive.

Smell on this one is all citrus, orange, lemon and lime depending on when you get her.

She reminds me of old school skunk plants from back in the 90s. Outdoors she would be an absolute monster.

Her sister is also quite stacked, but reminds me 100% of vanilla kush from Barney's farm.

Shorter node spacing, tighter buds, smells strongly of vanilla with a hint of orange. And is already well into the swell stage at 6 weeks. She looks like she might be finished by 9 -10 weeks which is early by my standards. I rarely pull anything in my garden before 10 weeks.

There is a 3rd one as well which has kind of always been the underdog, it never really. Looked like it would amount to much. Really loose bud structure, slow to flower, low yield.

But its still pushing now, not even close to swell yet id say, getting a nice spear top to her. She might just fill out into something. But I suspect she might bear fruit in the smoke department. The smell on this third one is orange and nail polish remover. She just smells nasty like some kind of orange scented commercial cleaning product.

Bro...I had a pheno of vanilla kush from barneys I loveddd years back

Supurb smell, excellent taste and a kickass high
Too bad it took so much seeds to find this one lol like sifting through haystacks

All in all the plants are nice, but the selection is low quality,
Seems like Gu is falling to the hype name game, crossing everything that moves even if it's not elite, oh well

All these seeds of Copper Chem and Animal Star Cookies you are talking about running through, we're those hunted from recent packs (within the last year or two) or older packs? (3 plus years ago)???

This is the orange/vanilla smelling night rider.

Hard to get a nice photo of this one because she is quite leafy.

Should be ready to come down in a week or two id say

Shes pretty fast, decent enough yield. Smell isnt super strong, but it is a lovely mix of citrus (orange, mandarin, lime) and vanilla


green buds with some splashes of purple and the hairs die out to a dark reddish brown. Bud structure is about medium density, should yield nice size buds.

Night rider #3

Out of the 3, this is the one I had little hope for. She struggled from the start, somehow now she has become my favourite.

Yield doesnt seem particularly large, although her clones in the other tent are doing much better than she did at the start of flower.

This flower is delicate, thin, foxtailing. Really pale green with purple pastel highlights. But she just sits quietly sparkling away under the lights. Something about her just draws me in everytime I go out to the tent.

still has a long while to go, shes in no rush to finish.

The smell.... oh my god the smell.

Run your finger along a sugar leaf and you will find she is oily and slick with terps. She hits you with a freshness, pine needles, lemon and acetone all leap out at you, but if you pay attention, beneath that punch is a floral boquet mixed with orange and vanilla that lingers on your fingers.

I will definitely be growing this one again and again. She was a manageable height, nice size buds, yield was right about my average. Trim wasn't too much work.

The smell is quite loud, nice mandarin and vanilla creaminess with a floral boquet.

Smoke is lovely and smooth, flavour is citrus and vanilla that coats the mouth.

High is lovely, its strong weed, but mostly in a way that I dont find myself going back for more, as opposed to a strong initial come up. Its quite a lovely day time smoke. All anxiety and cares just drift a way and a euphoric state takes over, very social with a lot of laughs, just a really sensational effect that my friends and I have been enjoying a lot

The smell on this one is out of this world, moving her around after the chop she released an odour i cant even describe yet.

Im actually going to need some time with the smell before I can put it into words I think.

But needless to say, after how good #2 turned out, i have extremely high hopes for this one. Slightly less bud density, but something tells me no one is going to care after they smell it.

Smoke report

Smell is a smooth and creamy mix of citrus (mandarine) and vanilla.

Bud fluffs out nicely on the grind, on inhale its a heavy thick smoke, citrus dominates the flavour.

The smoke is expansive, like very expansive, joint smokers report huge clouds of smoke from small puffs and bong smokers are coughing damn near everytime, and its not that it isnt smooth, its just a lot of smoke.

Also really thick mouth coating. You'll be tasting this for at least 5-10 mins after a smoke.

The high is euphoric, calming and chill, but overdo it and it becomes very confusion inducing. And its strong. Its easy to over do it. There has been a lot of people struggling to put sentences together at my place for a while now lol.

This has to be at least a 9/10 for me.

100% Going into circulation in my garden.

This one is more like a heady Orange OG kush kind of smell. Very gassy.

Smoke report is very similar to the one above. Except, not quite as much of a lung buster.

High is more sativa leaning, calm chill and creative, you will do chores and if your not careful you wont sleep.

Im on the fence with this one. Its maybe a 7/10

Maybe would have been an 8/10 if I wasn't comparing it to its sister.

Im keeping it around for a while because I like it and I want to see how it goes after being jarred up for a while.
 
Curious to hear from Gu if the Chem d cut used is variegated or non-variegated? Thank you.

For new growers bodhi price point is ok, nothing more
Strayfox is a F2 breeder, buy packs and sell untested F2 seeds, not even from elite cuts.. Pass for me.
Doc D again same issue like bodhi
CSI is a F1 pollen chucker, no work is being done in the normal F1 crosses
I also grew much from CSI, nothing special and packs are overpriced to hell
I dunno.. I just run numbers of everything I can get and hope for the best
I don't think this breeder is better than the other
They all do the same thing, F1 or S1
The only thing that matters is if they started with the og elite clone

Hope people arent putting much stock in this guy's opinion.

Some people love to rip others for what they are doing but have no real advice on how to do better, and seem to think everything these days (whenever that may be) sucks compared to some arbitrary time in the past, often implying that whenever it was that they got into something was like a golden age. Whatever, there are so many helpful folks here posting constructive info that it still blows my mind.

I've had some good luck with Greenpoint gear, and I'm certainly no expert or anyone doing huge pheno hunts. Had a Tomahawk several years ago that I just loved but didn't keep it, same thing for Cowboy Cookies. I've gone in other directions recently but picked up a couple GPS packs I want to try, cherry pie and oreos stardawg crosses, hoping for some real chem goodness. Can't wait to get started with those, and still have some old seeds I might break out.
