    My 2 cents - don't mess with your PH if it can be helped, let it get to 6.3 before you PH down (or down to 5.2 before you PH up). After you adjust, leave it for a day to see where it settles, don't mess with it constantly. If PH is swinging wildly, something is wrong (prob your EC is too high/low). Apart from that, just make sure the return pipes don't get clogged with roots and change your soup once a week.

    Dont forget roots can clog hole and water has to go somewhere
