Any small time grower say 3x3 should use cfls, 4x4 and up should use the halides and sodium lamps. I really like my cfl's.. 55-85w each.

save your money then buy the 55w 2700k at walmart for like 12.00 you can add as plants get larger. Once you grow a couple of ounces of good bud, cash out and use the money to get larger bulbs .

Dont get the small cfl twist. Try to get 55w - 85w much easier to set up and you will get better bud. I have a mix of light run from start to finish. 2700k and 6000k plants are loving the light.

outdoors no need to remove lower bud sites on small plants.

Always go to final container asap if you have the room and light. Overall root development will be better and you will see the results in the vegetative growth and buds.

I would use larger cfls, like 55w. You can get them at most hardware stores. Fewer bulbs is easier for me to set up.

I also use fox farm Ocean from the start and never have issues with sprouts
