I found these in a bag of Fox farm happy frog. It doesn't look like fungus, it looks like eggs.

That gives me some confidence in mixing my own soil soon, if that passes as sellable soil.

I found these in a bag of Fox farm happy frog. It doesn't look like fungus, it looks like eggs.

I never actually thought to try to see what's inside. They're pretty small but I'm going to give it a try. FF replied again and said they feel confident it's fungi.

I found these in a bag of Fox farm happy frog. It doesn't look like fungus, it looks like eggs.

I'm sure it could be fungus but it looks like it could def be eggs too. The bag sat inside for about 4 months, unopened. Anyone got any ideas? I contacted them, they replied with a copy and paste about fuzzy white mold, but it's clearly not fuzzy.

Is the pumice/lava rock i can get from a landscape supply store suitable for a living soil?

I'm literally going to pound lava rock into smaller pieces and use that. But I can't pound 5 cft worth. I can't seem to find the smaller pieces locally and it's the same with shipping lava rock as it is pumice. I've read stuff about lava rock cutting/damaging the roots. But if you don't use...

Is the pumice/lava rock i can get from a landscape supply store suitable for a living soil?

Landscape supply store. If you live on the east coast I don't think you'll find it in bulk. I need 5 cft and couldn't find that. I've looked extensively, I've had people in the industry who have looked and told me unless you wanna pay shipping, figure something else out. I think I'm going to...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

I know that was years ago but how'd this work out? This is exactly what I was going to do. I read about 10 pages further but didn't see an update from you, so I figured I'd ask.

Those that collect rain water for irrigation, do you filter it?

That's is exactly what I think is going on right now with my plants. Thanks for the info

Those that collect rain water for irrigation, do you filter it?

Thanks bro. I was told the salt concentration may be high. I've not been watering with any run off. I thought that maybe there was too much salt buildup. I'm using Fox farm nutrients. Thanks for the input.

Those that collect rain water for irrigation, do you filter it?

I was going to get an RV water storage tank and just leave it under my down spout. The 50 gallon drums they make specifically for collecting rain water are cool but I've got too many down spouts, and there's not any one that carries anymore water than any other. These rv storage tanks have...

Those that collect rain water for irrigation, do you filter it?

I've read online that you both need to filter and don't need to filter. I'm using it for my pot plants so I figured I'd ask pot growers. I don't mind getting a filter I just don't know how much I need or want to filter out.

Has anyone ever heard of or used Maxmicrobe or Myco Chum?

I got these free samples today when I visited the only hydro store in my state. I was pretty excited to find it and it's only an hour from home. He gave me a few different samples of products that basically look like they're microbe food. I've not yet stated growing with living soil, but the...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

This was extremely helpful. I just picked up some comfrey root cutting and they've sprouted in the pots I have them in. Going to wait until spring to get them in the ground. Also going to hunt some stinging nettles and horse tail too. Just started getting into organics, thanks for posting this.

Is the pumice/lava rock i can get from a landscape supply store suitable for a living soil?

I am basically going to get the tail end of the pile. I'm going to look at it Monday to see what size the chunks are. Is would this be OK to use as erration in a living soil? What is the ideal size for the pieces of pumice that I would want?
