Ready or not northern lights photoperiod

Wait for a few more weeks. I grew NL #2. I never take a strain less than 10 weeks, typically. I've had exceptions, but, overall, 10 weeks is my rule.

Can you tell how good the weed is just by looking at it?

I never saw a single trichome on any of the old school buds like the ones pictured above. No one ever mentioned "trichomes"....ever. The weed look "bad" by today's standards for showy-looking, well-trimmed bud, but I guarantee you that those old, craggy, leafy, dried-out buds would put you into...

Have you ever gotten a variegated plant?

Nope....It's not a disease. The plant is perfectly healthy and, in fact, is growing faster than the other two, non-variegated phenotypes. I find it interesting. This is the first one I've ever gotten. Anyone else?

Have you ever gotten a variegated plant?

I have. This run, I popped three Tuna Kush seeds (Hazeman)...All display unique morphology....One of them is variegated. Check it out....

Can you tell how good the weed is just by looking at it?

I bought some DJ Short's Blueberry when I was in Denver a few years ago. Looked great....smelled like blueberries....smoke tasted like pure sulfur/gunpowder. Maybe it was something they added to the soil....? I don't know. But I will just leave this here.....

    Small light recommendation

Viparspectra makes nice lights. I've got two of their XS1500 Pro models. If you want a spotlight type of light, I remember a company called Kessil (sp?) that makes singular, color-specific lights for aquarium lighting. I know some growers used them years ago.... HLG makes a small quantum board....

Does this look like a Herm?

Pardon my bad eyes, but I don't see any pistils. It looks like a pure male to me. In any case, you probably want to rid yourself of it.

Selling used, older tech grow lights: Is it even worth it?

I'm not part of the FB society so I'd have to join and get familiar with all of it....probably not going to happen, but thanks all the same.

Selling used, older tech grow lights: Is it even worth it?

I'm cleaning out my attic. I have a bunch of older grow lights that go back to ~2012. Some have the old 3-watt Cree red and white LEDs and some have the COB tech. They have fans. I was looking at Ebay to see if people list them. Mostly, I saw really inexpensive, brand-new lights with newer...

    Light recommendations?

HLG is a good company. They have efficient lights for a variety of spaces. AC Infinity is good. They have great customer service. ViparSpectra XS1500 has been a good performer for me. You can go to YouTube and check out a channel called MIGRO. The host independently reviews a bunch of...

Harvesting Head High vs Body High

I appreciate the link. I guess what I was referring to were the "renowned" landrace strains that became famous in the weed smoking world of the mid-1970's. Acapulco Gold, Panama Red, Red Columbian, Oaxacan, Thai, Hawaiian, etc. I know I have tried many seed venders who say they have those...

Harvesting Head High vs Body High

Everything is a hybrid now, so there's no way to expect any type of consistent effect from one strain to the next. To me, it's always going to come down to whether it's a good hybrid or not. And, if it's a good one, then it should get you stoned if it's grown to a fully-ripe stage. I don't...

Harvesting Head High vs Body High

The body high vs head high thing....I don't believe it has to do with Indica or sativa, but rather when the trichomes are ripe. Sativa-heavy hybrids tend to take longer to ripen, so people often harvest them early when the trichomes aren't as ripe as they could be....the effect being that they...

    Pollinated at 8 weeks

As far as seeded weed goes, the best weed I've ever smoked was full of them. That was the way that I learned when to harvest when I first started growing. It was ready to harvest when the seeds were dark and fully-developed. No one was scoping the trichomes in those days. And strains like...

Grove vs Mylar. How much better are actual Grove Bags

True. But what I do is I get several of the 1-ounce size and then I weigh out an ounce (or so) in each one, heat seal them all. and then store them in a cool, dark place. I break open an ounce, as needed, and then I fill my little glass jar with the buds from that ounce, that I will be smoking...

Grove vs Mylar. How much better are actual Grove Bags

You MUST be able to heat-seal the Grove bags in order to get the most out of what they do. I love them!

    Are 'nanner-made seeds bad?

I grew some Chemdozer a few years ago. I found a seed in one of the buds. I kept it and grew it out. It grew even better and the smoke was as good as the original. At this point, I've had several different strains do the same thing.....one or two good seeds in a random bud....obviously made from...

So light leaks cause hermies eh ?

I tend to think that almost ALL genetics, these days, have the potential to throw 'nanners, but I rarely see true hermaphrodite plants. I have had one or two over the years, though. So, let's define our terms.....Are we talking about light leaks that cause plants to throw a few 'nans in late...

really cool! How do you make your labels?

    Your peppers please!

It's always dicey to try and grow peppers for me. They get going, then it cools down right when fruits start to set and everything slows way down. I get some vine-ripe ones, but I typically have to pick them at first blush and then let then ripen off the vine. That's why I tend to grow things...
