I’ve seen that too, but no, mine are right side up. I can definitely attest to the fact that they can be hard to get out of the tray, but I’ve always been able to get them out. Might try the upside down method at some point in the future though as I am all about efficiency.

Update, both of the Mazars that I planted are up and growing happily! The Pine Tars are behind, one has cracked but no tap root yet and the other one has no movement yet.

Second picture was taken on December 12th (1 week later). Here I had just put my home made SCROG into the tent to let the plants start to grow into it. I had also gotten every plant into at least a 1 gallon Smart Pot and had even put the 3 biggest plants into their final 3 gallon Smart Pots.

With the Reg seeds I would definitely recommend sexing them as early as possible. My preferred way to do this is to take a cutting (if you are going to Top them you can wait till they grow to the 5th node and Top them at the 3rd node; or if not then you can wait till you get a bottom side...
