High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

The problem with the cheap cobs is that we never know anything about then, only the wattage. That´s makes it impossible to predict if they will work as a grow light or not. We don´t know the spectrum and the amount of light they produce and the sellers just steal data from different producers...

High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

I think I must share my experience with some Chinese cobs I have used. I used them for chili and tomato seedlings but wondered why it seemed that the plants did nog grow very well. The lamp had 2 different cobs a cool-white and a warm white, lumens about 15000.( I know but I don´t have the meter...

High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

I have a few Chinese cobs and one lamp I made is with 2 100W driven at 50W. Now I made another lamp with the same size driver but one Citizen 1212 3500 90 cri instead. It seems that the one Citizen produce the same amount of light as the 2 Chinese combined, that´s with half the power. No more...

    internal external potentiometer

I looked at my HLG 185 and noticed that there are shrews so it should be possible to take it apart. I wonder if you can take it apart and solder wires on the place where the internal pot is placed. ( remove the internal pot) or you could change the original pot with another. I would do that but...

    LED - HPS Comparison

Sounds strange to me. I measure 20000 lux from my 100W china led run at 50W at the same distance.(30 cm) Disclaimer: Yes I know, lux and lumens are for humans. Rilla.

    Par readings

If you have a serie that don´t light because of one cop you can find it by short cutting the cops one at the time, when you hit the one that causes the problem the rest will lit up. Rilla.

    Picking the right Potentiometer?

You are welcome. But I would not like a 10 turn pot because as it says it needs to be turned 10 times for tall the way up and down and you can not make a scale to easy see how it´s set. I just bought these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/401296759607 Rilla.

    Picking the right Potentiometer?

Watt´s is not important for this use and if it was then 2W is better than less. Rilla.

COB light problem. Loose chips sink ships

I think that your glue has slipped and the cob´s therefor got so warm that the solder melted. It will certainly ruin the cob´s if it happens again. Rilla.

    Vegging with 3000k 90cri

Yes, people love to say that but when the lumens is in the same spectrum as the plants can use I do believe that it can compare. By the way, lumens can all be used by plants but some spectrums plants can use can not be seen by humans, it´s not the other way around! Rilla.
