I would not mess with the screen, while you are that far into flowering.. just be patient and wait. You cant use a screen immediately anyhow, your new plants will take time to grow up to it.. giving you time to make it then. :)

I would imagine there are some differences, between topping at the 2nd and 3rd, but probably nominal right? I've always topped at the 2nd node, once I found out the science in the plant behind it (splitting hormones evenly), versus just topping randomly at any given node way up there on the top...

A little trick I used this morning was give your plant a short period before watering as you normally would (if possible).. the limbs will become more elastic like (before you see signs of dehydration obviously) and much easier to tuck under when their growing to that point of possibly breaking...
