The results would be similar but alchol needs a higher temp to boil and alchol is harder to purge and will leave some undesirable components.

It is not necessary as pentane does not pull the waxes and other undesired components the way that alcohol does. Winterization can be done if your goal is to get a 100% pure extract but this requires more than just winterization.

We recommend using a small coffee cup warmer with adjustable heat. Using a combination of frequent stirring and the heat you can get a complete purge of the pentane without a vac setup.

That is a little scary as the pentane can dissolve this.

As stated above we designed the system to be safe and I promise you the profits on this unit are small. For the DIYer I aplaud your efforts to create your own systems. But for someone who wants an easy safe system they can count on to get the results they want without a huge investment, I think...

We have used it both ways as well as freshly harvested and I like using fresh plant material myself. Just processed a few plants this way and I was very happy with the results.

And more expensive. We built our system so that users can easily and cheaply replace the components. Except for the metal tubing, jar caps and connectors. We do have this option on our site for $150.00 it is the "Bare Metal Only" selection.

We recomend storing the pentane in your refrigerator and of course keeping the lid on the jar.
