Which strains generally produce the biggest buds ?

I had good luck with White Rhino and Diesel. White Rhino was the favorite among my friends. It had a super citrus/mint smell to it and was a great smoke. I got a lot of good feedback on it. It was also a very hearty plant that took a lot of light and nutrients and just grew big. I plan on...

Mainline Method High Suckers Trimmed or leave?

I personally would strip off those lower leaves and the next node up from those lower leaves. I mainlined mine and spent time doing some Low Stress Training (LST). You’re trying to focus the energy of the plant on growing the main colas on each branch. If you leave too many lower limbs and big...

    Week 5 first grow!

That’s a solid looking Week 5 plant. You will put on weight and size for sure, but it may not be a dramatic size gain though as much as filling in bud density. You’re bout half way there.

First coco run, growth has STOPPED over last 3 days.

If you’re growing in coco you can’t go wrong with GH Flora or if you want to save a few bucks AN Jungle Juice. JJ is basically an exact knockoff of Flora, for less money. Also, it may be a little more, but for growing medium I go with Mother Earth Coco Coir with perlite in 5 gal cloth pots...

    The Kiwi Growers Thread

Loved NZ, one of the best trips of my life. Was a shame that MJ was pretty much non-existent there though. Would have made the hike up Mt. Tiranaki that much more amazing. Do they grant grower licenses there for medical use? What kinds of penalties are there for possession of cannabis in NZ? I...

Are these ready yet?? New plants from last!

You need to get a loop so that you can check your trichomes. That’s the most reliable way to know if it’s ready. Look for them to be a milky/cloudy color along with a few amber trichomes too (I personally don’t like too many amber trichs). Look for this on the buds not the leaves.

I actually have a wireless thermometer style plug that I have used in conjunction with my timer. So if I need my cooling to kick on, I set my upper temperature limit to 73° and plug the AC into that sensor. I then set my Lower limit for heating at 64 degrees If my temps dip down too far with...

Are leds a lot cooler than hps?

This is my first run with all LEDs (last time I mixed LED and HPS for the last half of my bloom phase to drop temps), so I don’t know yet if the quality of the smoke is going to superior. I suspect it will be only because my bud density and formation is nice and consistent from the bottom to top...

Are leds a lot cooler than hps?

Thanks man, I’m growing in Coco. It’s basically the way to go if you want to eliminate the guess work of watering soil properly. Just my preference though. I can say that I have had some great growth with the HPS/MH combo with regard to bud density and size, but I think that the full spectrum...

Definitely! I’m arguably more obsessed with developing an automated system for growing and drying than I am with smoking/eating it. Ha! I can’t sell mine based on the license I have, so I literally just end up just giving it to friends and family for free. (Not a bad way to get volunteers to...

Yeah, there a sea of conflicting info on the ole internet, so I always appreciate advice from folks with real-world experience in growing. I was struggling with watering in soil and made the switch to coco, which helped greatly, but definitely had its own challenges. It’s taken a little time...

[ Got it! I’ve been playing it safe buying the bottle nutrients, but now that I’m a bit more comfortable growing and have my air system and humidity dialed in, I’m looking at alternatives to bottle nutrition. This is perfect info and timing. Thanks man!

Perfect, the grow is dunzo! Reading the bottle and it looks like The Jungle Juice Micro has Calcium 5%, but no Magnesium in it. The Bloom has 1.5%. Think that’s enough to satisfy the need for the coco and prevent nutrient lockout?

Are leds a lot cooler than hps?

On my last run I had a combination of HPS and MH. I have since switched over to LED’s, and it is dramatically cooler in my room. I was having to bring in an outside filtered air vent (as in outside of the house) just to keep the room cool enough. And I was pushing into the 80s. I switched over...

That makes sense, I was using GH flora series and switched away because AN Jungle Juice is basically a knock-off of the base nutrients at 30% less cost. I’ve had really good luck with GH and with AN in my Drain-to-waste system given my municipal water supply so I’ve stuck with it. It all just...

I may have found the issue. I switched to Sensi Cal-Mag from Advanced Nutrients from the General Hydroponics Cali-Magic. Sensi Cal-Mag had an N of 4 where the GH was 1. I think I just need to eliminate adding any grow nutrients in my bloom phase altogether considering that it’s being picked up...

I’ve only been including it because was under the impression that Cal/Mag was needed for growing in Coco coir because the cation exchange sites lock onto the Ca and Mg making them unavailable to the plant. So in order for the plant to be able to uptake regular nutrients you have to add...

I’m still using Grow nutrients (N) at 12ml for 5 gallons. Advanced Nutrients recommends using 25ml, but I only went with 50%. What if I keep the Cal/Mag to allow uptake of other nutrients in the and brick the Grow nutrients all together? That would eliminate the main source of nitrogen.
