collar rot has nothing to do with lack of air in the soil, collar rot is caused by the medium being to wet around the trunk...maybe try watering alittle less.. if your plants are in a decent size pot u should only be watering once a week..

i would rather a 1500w hps for vegging then a 1000w MH, if u had to choose...but if your planning on vegging for like 2months or more the MH might be the better option...but if not deffinatly the hps
