High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

@CobKits on the Getian 2828's in the 37.5 range, what did you say the l/w were at 45-50 watts? also, this was a good discussion thanks for everyone's input... I do have another question. if i had 2 drivers and 4 - 36 v cobs, what is the difference here.... HLG-240H-C1050 running 4 cobs...

High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

looks like the 2828's aren't great. But they are 5 bucks a cob, so that is something i guess.

High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

thanks for pointing that out! Cobkits did all the heavy lifting for me. :) I was looking at 38w - 2828s. I was going run that at 45-50 watts each. This looks like a pretty good deal. I wanted to stay under 10 bucks a cob. This gets me right at $5 with shipping and covers. @CobKits am i...

High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

got this from a vendor off alibiba. These actually don't look bad for value priced COBs. 80 cri go from 140-160l/w 38w - $4.25 (max 88w) 56w - $6.25 (max 132w) 85w - $9.25 (max 198w) the FW is pretty high on the higher wattage cobs

High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

so 2 - 100 watt cobs (running at 50 watts each) gave the same light as 1 citizen cob running at 50 watts? the 100 watt cobs must have been really crappy. that's half the efficiency, but i can see that... so would you say that would make Cree chips better then Vero as they are twice the price?

High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

I would like to see a sub $10 dollar cob that can play in the same park as Vero, Citizen or Luminus. Anyone know of any? I would think if we are using l/w as a benchmark, then something around 140-160l/w would be sufficient. That seems to be the range of most high end cobs. Plus if you...

High End COBs vs $2 COBs...

I have about a year under me for growing, I have grown under cheap LEDs, Vero 29 cobs, T5s, and Q-boards. My question is about COBs; really does it matter if they are $2 ebay COBs or $50 Cree 3590's? Removing the obvious quality difference of the end product, I would assume someone put more...

All COB Users - Lettuce Grow Challenge!!

This thread appears to be quite! So I am experimenting with some cheap red/blue lights from amazon. They were sold to me at 45 watt lights, when i plugged them in, they were really 27 watt lights. which annoyed me. So I took them apart, ripped out the drivers and rewired them. Now they...

    LED board question

after 3 different orders of drivers (and 2 returns), I have finally found what works for these boards. These actually do a pretty solid job. I picked up some 185-1400ma drivers. When i ran them out of the box, they give me 180 watts at the wall, so 45 watts per light. That is exactly what i...

    LED Board suppliers?

Do anyone know of a supplier for cheap LED boards? I am experimenting with different designs and colors and don't really need high end product just yet. I know i can go to ebay or amazon and buy complete lights for $25 - ??? but i just want the actual LED boards, not the drivers or fixture.

    LED board question

i can't turn the driver down. at the wall its about 185 watts.

    LED board question

so I got some drivers. LPV-150-48, they are 3.2 amps. I ran everything in parallel. so it should work, but i think the amps are too high, its making the LEDs flash. My assumption here was 48 volts per board, each would get 12.5 watts. But they are also getting 267ma each, so i am guessing...

    LED board question

on a meanwell 240 @ 1050ma I went with 12 boards, hooked them up running 6 in series each, then ran the 2 - 6 groups in parallel. so what does this give me? a large light, its 28x32 in size with leds evenly spread across the entire light (900 diodes) that's 6.22 sf, giving me 36.64 watts per...

    LED board question

So, would a HLG-185h-c700 be an idea driver for this? It looks like you could hook up 12 total boards. 286 volts / 48 volts per board = 5.95 boards, id assume this would probably work this would give me about 15 watts per board, so the normal rated amount. so hook them up as 6 in series and...

    LED board question

So here are some results: meanwell 240 @ 1050ma everything is running in series 3 boards gets me 160 total watts at the wall 6 boards gets me 100 total watts at the wall 8 boards gets me 7 total watts at the wall 9 boards, nothing would this indicate the lights are running in both parallel...
