It would if he were using equal wattage. 16,000 or 8 or whatever of HLG 550's (or the new hlg600's) up against equal wattage of Gavita 1000 watt hps double ended . Then weigh in and see what the verdict is. Throw in electricity costs comparison as well..especailly air conditioning difference...

Yep . Even if the hps side got a 20 or 30% more...still it's a no brainer when you take in the wattage. He should post up the final electric costs in light only when he does the true weigh in. That would put it all in perspective.

Don't know about that. I would imagine dig. They are slightly more efficient (slightly) compared to coil and core. Way less heat and noise though.

To be honest..in bigger ops..no I haven't seen much in the way of led vs hps. Especially double ended hps.

He's using regular 1000 watt single ended hps lamps in adjust a wings (despite claims with bat wings or adjust a wings - they aren't that efficient. Those open ends make a huge difference - in a negative way). Don't know why he's not or hasn't upgraded to Double Ended hps like Gavita. Its not...
