Your definitely not too late. I planted 6” clones outdoors last year July 6 (in Massachusetts) and they got over 6’ tall.

A trellis may be your best friend

They look good. But if all you have is 5.5’ you might be in trouble. Def train them to bush out of you can. Just to give you an idea I planted my plants outdoor last year first week of July (6” tall at the time) and they got over 7 feet by harvest

Looks about right. Plant doesn’t look stressed or anything. Once the roots take a foothold the growth will continue normally.
