EFs R&DiY LED, Circuits, Arduino, Hot Peppers and more thread

Its been a while since I have updated so here a quick one. I got some stuff done, I recently did some repair work on a A51 panel. I will be posting the pictures as a guide for anyone that ever needs to do the same. I will get them all together, scaled and exif data stripped then uploaded so it...

You could have just got a magnetic ballast instead of digital.

IF you are new to LED and want help choosing what to buy, POST HERE!

I agree with az above, always try to ask before purchase. I have only ever run A51's RW spectrum and DIY Cree when it comes to LED so I couldn't tell you how those lights perform. As for the price, I have always found illumitex too much for me to consider. Maybe @FranJan will give you his 2¢...

NO Ever seen a purple sun? the red and blue mix is great for lettuce, not cannabis (not trying to piss your monochromers off). A few years ago when white leds were crap red and blue was king, but white leds have come along way and even surpassed the monochromatics. They are better for viewing...

5th Official Party Cup Grow Competition

Week 9 update: I wasn't around my house for the long weekend (Canadian thanksgiving) so its a monday update. When I got home she was alive but thirsty and drooping, I just made it. The bottom leaves aren't looking too good and she is purple/yellowing pretty quick. The cab is far too cold and I...

    Why hate on the Chinese?

My only commercial panels are A51, recently I had a white chip burn out taking all the whites on the half the panel. I am glad I went with A51, Jeff sent me the replacement board after some troubleshooting and it arrived very quickly. The repair was straight forward and cost me nothing, I don't...

    Another Cree CXA3070 DIY Thread

W2 for 2700k 3050 isn't so hot to begin with, its only 31% efficient at 1.4 amps. I think it is the same size footprint as the 3070 just less wattage. chart supplied by supraspl

    Another Cree CXA3070 DIY Thread

Z2's will grow you sugar coated dense nugs, @bbspills hits 1 g/w with the 2700k W2 CXA3050 and you can buy those in singles for for $25.72. If people are holding out for AB's, Don't. Just get the best bin available and get some plants under it, they will thank you.

    Another Cree CXA3070 DIY Thread

My problem with that link goud is that I don't trust it at all. The link you supplied is 6 bins above the highest one Cree has listed in a high CRI version. If they claimed 80 CRI it would be more realistic as it is the next bin above the AB. Buyer Beware! EDIT: The link doesn't work anymore...

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

Even though I can run @ 1050mA I only do so for a few weeks. Most of the time I dim them down to about 700-750mA. I'm not sure what kinda of umols I am getting or what distance they should be at but even dimmed they are bright as hell. I can't wait for my sensor to arrive. 9 @ 750mA = 252+/-...

can you tell the bin of cxa 3070s?

I forgot about that, I was just going by the part #'s in the spec sheet from Cree. Now that I look it over again the NOO seems to mean the lowest CRI option available while the NOH represents the 80 CRI option, for the 3000K the 80 CRI is the lowest so it possible they are both. The easiest way...

    Hyroot's Garden

Built in automation, Cool. Thats not a bad idea I'm going to look into that, I'm building a initiator (some day) and only need like 2 watts in the tent for the 5 or so minutes. I guess you would need a relay to trigger it when the other lights go off but how to charge the battery during lights...

What led would work best ?

As for running multiple cobs with 1 driver, I use the Mean Well HLG-185H-C1050* to driver 4 CXA3070s in series at 1050mA which would be perfect for a cabinet that size. I run 8 in 8 square feet. That driver is dimmable, power factor corrected and has overload protection which the fasttech...

DIY 80W vero 18 UFO killer

Honestly I have tapped thousands of holes for work and almost always when somebody new does it they break the tap. Its very common if you have never done it before but with oil and only a little practice it become very easy. Just order more than 1 if you're new because you are bound to break it...

    Hyroot's Garden

The red could definitely be adding to the male count, I have read and believe that more blue produces more females. I sprouted a few under the a51 rw spectrum but I was only running the xte whites (5500k?) and it spat out more females.I didn't introduce the reds until the showed sex. I also went...

Onyx Grow Bloom vs Area 51 RW-150 Gorilla Glue #4 Grow

Sorry if I seem like I don't like the Onyx, I do I just see room for improvement as it is the first horticulture light they have released. It doesn't matter what diodes are shone through the lens, whether they are 8mm chinese crap or top/mid bin CREE XM-L2's. The lenses will absorb 10-15 percent...

Hell ya you do, I want them also. That part number would actually be CXA3070-0000-000N0Y-30F but it might be a while before you find them as they haven't yet come into existence. Link to spec sheet below for more details...

SDS wrote a bit about the 670nm here, he seemed to like it. Almost made me add some to my DIY build, I still might if I can find some Cree XPE photo red P5 665-670nm stars. Cutter has the P4 660-665nm on stars but shipping price turned me off. Anyone know other sources? Also yes the drivers...

can you tell the bin of cxa 3070s?

(3070-30F-AB-NOH) is this a hybrid part number? Its obviously not correct. CXA3070-0000-000 N0H AB 50F = 5000K CXA3070-0000-000 N00 AB 30F = 3000k Im pretty sure thats going to be a 5000K and its priced right according to octopart. I would have just ordered from newark. That should be...
