Your plant is likely sativa dominant (long thin leaf fingers). But be aware...that does not necessarily mean the high will be sativa like. Depends on strain, genetics and lineage, and pheno-type (if any). I have 2 gurlz going now that are both Sativa dominant...they are growing in like fat...

I don't know how touching the light will effect the grow but it should not catch fire. I have seen growerz go as close as 2" with T5 Nice Grow BTW.

I have topped as early as 6 days after seedlings break soil. It is all a matter of when the grower decides he/she wants to start manipulating. BTW...just so we're clear I am not suggesting you top your grow at 6 days.
