    Ttystikk's vertical goodness

http://www.highbaylightfittings.com/china-customized_3700lm_e40_36w_ip54_led_corn_bulbs_street_lamp-365597.htmlhtml could something like this be viable if built on a bigger scale with the right spectrum? I mean in terms of $ what are we talking?

Help me build a large CXA3070 Rig

Okay so to clarify. This has 3 options for dimming and @littlejacob is correct. I would at least need the potentiometer? Thank you for the information @BigYellowCob

Help me build a large CXA3070 Rig

Okay so after a little bit of research I need help. If I get an hlg-185-c1400b do I still need a resistor or a potentiometer? The driver has 1-10vdc pwm resistance. Just trying to make sense of it all. Sorry if this question has already been answered somewhere.

this is a start. Thank you so much @littlejacob . I will have more questions shortly.

    Ttystikk's vertical goodness

This is why I consider myself a student. I was convinced heat wouldn't be an issue even with all the lights. Calculations are needed. How are you currently cooling the room with the hps/mh in use? you feel switching to led would NOT lower the temp?

    Ttystikk's vertical goodness

nothing some liquid cooling can't fix. your heat issues stem from the type of lights used. Cobs would eliminate any heat issue. Like Heckler said a fan on top in a cylinder shaped piece of aluminum. All the heatsinks inside... maybe even another fan on the bottom as I'm sure it will still hang...

    Ttystikk's vertical goodness

Have you brought the specs to @SupraSPL ? lol I'm sure you have enough calculations for him to tell you how to make the most perfect ppfd and energy efficient light possible for your setup. I think you just made me rethink my whole setup.

    Ttystikk's vertical goodness

so how long would you typically veg before flowering. And what light do you currently use? the reason I ask is because I have seen you in the diy led cob threads and I am curious to know if you have built a cob vertical light for your setup?

    Ttystikk's vertical goodness

I am very intrigued sir. I like how everyone was stating this was clearly a waste of time at the beginning of the thread. My first question (seeing as how I am in the process of putting together my first grow setup) is for this type of method you must use sativa dominant strains... correct? or...

Help me build a large CXA3070 Rig

I am trying to build a similar model to this but with 4 cxb3590 3500k 36v. I need a complete parts list... from absolute scratch

    Matching Drivers and COBs

Thank you both @ttystikk and @littlejacob for the info. I wanted to make all of my first cobs passively cooled with each one having its own heatsink. I will fabricate an aluminum frame to hold all 4 cobs. Then run all wires to the driver thru the frame. Is there a link to the formula for...

Or would that only dictate the size of the heatsink needed?

    Matching Drivers and COBs

OK so I am in the process of ordering (4) cxb3590 3500k 36v cobs and a mW hlg-185-1400b driver. My question involves passive vs active cooling. Would it be safe to assume that with active cooling the cobs are less hot? Meaning they could be setup closer to the canopy vs passive cooling?

    Matching Drivers and COBs

Thanks @Rahz for answering my question. I recently just moved to CO with my gf and we are trying "live resin" for the first time... I'm so high lol. Now I think I'll go decipher some of Supras ramblings. He's crazyyy I swear!! Please teach me how to hunt... don't just give me food.

    Matching Drivers and COBs

to elaborate... if the light system works and the PPFD is in between 759-900 across the entire canopy... then the rest of the numbers become insignificant?

    Matching Drivers and COBs

First question. PPFD from what I have been reading, is all that really matters in terms of light specs. Wattage, volts, and all the other measurements are used to find PPFD...correct?

I don't know how to "like" your reply @littlejacob but thank you for making me feel welcome.

    Matching Drivers and COBs

Hello everyone, I have been following all the threads for about a week now. I am sold on diy cobs. I have a couple questions for the gods of RIU but I wanted to introduce myself first. Thank you for all the valuable information and I am very happy to be in the presence of legends.
