I PH’d tested the water aswell it was like 5.9. I don’t got PH down. So i’m using the lemon juice drops to lower the PH when should I feed it aswell?

Just got a ph test kit. Water is 8.1 tap. Made it 6.5 with lemon juice. Some guy at some hydroponic shop told me to do this till i get ph down. So should i give it feeding?
