as for the browning on the tips, mine did that too new growth seems to be fine on mine, the old browning leaves eventually shriveled up and fell off mine and then the stem became strong. The oldest leaves on both my adults still have those brown spots on the tips of the oldest blades.

The dropping one looks like over watering/root rot, I purposely killed a seedling I wasn't going to raise by over watering it and that's totally what it looked like.

For some people HPS just isn't an option though. CFL's will work just fine but always keep them almost touching the top cola, and maybe flood the body by putting a couple on each side. I was going to go HPS but I did research and learned HPS is really more of a fad in growing although better...

So do T.V.'s even produce usuable lights to plants?

They should sell lamps at stores for under 10$ that can house up to 75 watts, these are meant mainly as outdoor lighting for workers and other crap but they come with an aluminum reflector already on them and a clip.

Sorry it is 6,500 k for veg growth like the person that posted two times ago said. I don't think lights will even be 5,700 k.

To get a really good yield you'll need a bigger space, the best fluorescent to work with are something in the 5,700 K range daylight lights I'd get the 23 watt's since this is just for incubating and some vegging. Get 45 watt soft white flourescents in the 2,700 k range for flowering at least 3...

What if I put the plants under a giant box to help the dark?

I had some seedlings that were about 6 inches tall and stretching from bad light and one bent over, so I moved them into a 3 gallon home and buried the bent part of the stem so only the leaves were coming out of the ground and now the plant that was bent as a seedling is my most healthy adult.

Sounds like there's a lot more to HPS bulbs than I thought, I don't think I'm quite ready to even attempt using them.

Have you used 1,000 bulbs before because I looked up Home depot and lowes they don't even carry ballast that will handle above 70 watt, and a few sites like it and 1,000 bulbs is the cheapest way to go for a ballast, it just dosen't look like it will have a reflector.
