    QB96 Elite V2 w/ SSTX heatsink question

This is what I've been thinking since they were announced. Don't think these are really suited for tent grows. Perhaps these would be more appropriate for warehouse setups.

Not really that interested in adding UV at all, to be honest. My understanding is that UV LED isn't quite there yet when it comes to price and longevity, and the reptile bulbs would be quite the hassle in my space. Also not super keen on the idea of exposing myself to the radiation! Probably...

Haha... Yeah, I have some opinions on Sub (and his super soil recipe), but I hear he puts out tasty gear? I think the only TGA strain I've actually tried was Plushberry (smoked it, didn't grow it), but it really was one of the more intensely flavorful buds I've had. But I don't know how much of...

    Lukios Secret Garden pt II

They never tell you the price ahead of time. Years ago, when I was first getting into scotch, I made the mistake of ordering a shot of Johnnie Walker Blue Label. At $35/1.5 oz, it was a lesson well-learned.

Notice any difference in growth under the red-enhanced spectrum? I was thinking that 15% would be a good ceiling for the red-ratio; I'd like something that could range from about 20-40 watts.

The 660/730 they sell is about 4 feet long, so it won't fit in either of my tents. I am eyeing their new, shorter far red strip though.

Sub too, for that matter. I understand why they don't want to go through the adjustment period, as they have a certain level of production to maintain, but if they just threw up a tent somewhere, they could use that as a test-space to hone their LED-skills, and then they'd be off to the races...

Well to be fair, Amare doesn't have much of a presence here on RiU. In fact, you're the only guy here that I know to have an Amare fixture. Out of sight, out of mind. If we saw more journals/reports/reviews of their products, that might change.

Excellent, thanks for the info! What's the actual draw at the wall for those 16 on that driver? And how long have you been using them? I'm starting to think 12 of the XP-E HE in solderless form would be the way to go. Adhere them to the frame and call it good. (I would need longer jumper cables...

    QB96 Elite V2 w/ SSTX heatsink question

I would tend to agree. But if the spectrum can be shown to make a difference, and the distribution of light is acceptable, it would make another good low-cost (roughly $1/watt, with driver) setup for a 4x4. I'm with @Rahz though. This type of light (mini-PCB), with the added red, would be...

For you peeps with Cree XP-E HE 660nm experience (I know you guys are here somewhere), where can I find info on heatsink requirements? I grabbed the spec sheet from RapidLED's site, but it isn't telling me what I need to know (or I'm too ignorant to see it).

Looks like a solid product, but right now I'm looking into straight 660nm options. I still don't know if that 8-10% idea has any merit, but I definitely want the ability to dial the deep red up or down, independently of the white light.

Well, it was bound to happen eventually - just like building and upgrading PCs, the Gear Acquisition Syndrome has finally kicked in, a year or so after completing the first of my QB120 fixtures. Folks who know me on this forum can probably recall the skepticism I've expressed around...

    QB96 Elite V2 w/ SSTX heatsink question

I keep pondering the utility of the QB96. On the one hand, the form-factor gives me pause, because it seems - footprint-wise - to be less suited to small tent grows, but on the other hand, it's a lot of power for the dollar, and it offers something different, spectrum-wise. I would absolutely...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Ahh... Yeah, I've also been looking at the QB11 in 660nm. If I read HLG's site correctly (it can be a bit unclear on some things), it's two strips for $50.
