The soil grow would be my choice as it's more forgiving of newb mistakes. If you get decent soil to start, and suppress the urge to over water and feed, you should be able to make it work for you. Hydro has less room for error, and it's more time consuming to balance everything. I can...

Welcome back Chief! Does the curing improve potentcy or just taste? I've got the original main cola harvest in a 2qt glass mason jar, and it's been close to 2 weeks for that cure. The secondary colas are also curing -but a week behind that, and the last of the popcorn buds were just clipped...

Thanks nwaredstar7...I was quite happy with my results too, since I had no clue about growing until I joined RIU. I'm just trying to keep them green and perky all the way through this time, and so far its going well. I know I have at least one girl now anyway...I expect the other two to show...

Got another 46g dry weight from the smaller AK48 colas - still have a bit more coming soon from those popcorn buds, so I will probably top out at right about 4ozs total from both plants. Not too shabby for a newb with CFLs... Now that I know I have at least one other girl growing, I'm aiming...

Great news - the baby AK48 is a girl! She's showing a few preflowers with hairs, so I'm pretty happy at least one is going to give me bud. Still going to veg her another week or more, until the 8 weeks is up, so she can continue to grow nice and big. I'm hoping the other two are females too...

I have cloned the tops that I cut off when topping my babies (at 6 weeks veg now). Now that they've rooted and begun to grow again, I was just wondering if I should give them nutes like their 'moms', or treat them as seedlings due to their new root system. There were planted in a seed starter...

I totally agree with you Chief...you hopefully learn a lot from your first grow and use that knowledge to make the next one better. I've gotten MUCH better results, so far, with my second grow. The plants look so much healthier and greener than last time, so I'm hoping for an even better...
